Introductory Biography

Hello,
My name is Barry Ferguson. I am writing this blog to provide a short biography for my Fine Art America site. Also, I will provide some in depth descriptions of my art. I was born in Virginia and I have always had a talent for the creative arts. When I was a child I learned art by copying pictures out of magazines. Later I began to add my own style to my drawings by changing the subject matter to suit my ideas. I began to enjoy working with abstract design and I used clay models to flesh out my ideas in elementary school. I began to emulate artists like Monet and Jackson Pollack. I needed formal training to explore my potential but I did not have the resources available to me at the time. Therefore, I became more interested in music and I did not pursue art again until I was a young adult.
In my late twenties I began to rediscover myself in art. I once again began to experiment with color texture and line. I began taking fine art classes in drawing and painting. After this I began to specialize in different techniques until I found the ones I liked the best. During a long process of trial and error I discovered my personal techniques. This is an ongoing process for me even today as I seek the techniques I desire in my art. Although I know what my style is I still must adapt it to a medium and a composition. In conclusion, the one thing that I learned throughout my training in art is that composition is king.
