Bicentennial Plaza at Dawn

Small riverfront park along the Ohio River at dawn. The Williamstown Bridge can be seen on the horizon. The morning light is reflected in the smooth surface of the river. The decorative handrail compliments the brick pavers cluttered with freshly fallen autumn leaves.

"Painterly Fox - Eye on the Camera" by Patti Deters. This female wild fox wasn’t overly concerned with me being in her space as she was sitting in a grassy field looking towards the camera long enough for me to take this portrait photo. It was almost like she was saying “get my good side!”. These canines look a bit like a dog with their long nose and pointy ears, and this one has pretty rust-colored fur and big bushy tail. The white tip on her large tail is what helps identify her as an American Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes fulvous). Overlays and textures have been added for artistic effect. A peaceful spring walk in gorgeous Castle Island in South Boston. The cloud covered sky and sun light makes all the colors pop. A park bench at Marine Park near City Point Beach and overlooking Pleasure Bay.

Built in 1897 this Scandinavian influenced structure was used as a fish transfer station and net drying. A Winter storm with hurricane force winds left it in its current vacant state.

Autumn Trees in a City Park

A sidewalk park in downtown Portsmouth, Ohio on a rainy autumn October afternoon. Lots of yellow leaves from the trees cover the green grass in the park. Benches spaced out around the park provide a perfect place to sit and enjoy the changing of the season.

"White Sands National Park - Yucca Bloom" by Patti Deters. The yucca (Yucca filamentosa) is a hardy desert plant and is seen here flowering at the top of a white sand dune in White Sands National Park, New Mexico. Huge white dunes of gypsum sand have covered 275 square miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dunefield. The yucca plant, also known as Adam's needle, is in the plant family Asparagaceae and is native to the southeastern United States. This simple minimal photo is comprised of just three subjects - the white sand dune, the clear blue sky, and the tall flowering yucca - it is presented here with a vertical crop. "Juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons in Pine Tree" by Patti Deters. Three baby night herons (Nycticorax nycticorax) sit together in the safety of tall pine trees near a heron rookery in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. This clutch of chicks was active high in the pine tree, moving in and out of view, and up and down the tree – though always staying close together. Black-crowned Night Herons are not often seen because during the day they generally like to hide from view, the birds generally become more active at dusk when they spend time foraging in nearby wetlands, marshes, and ponds. This photograph of these lush ferns was taken in the Fernery at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia. It is the only freestanding fernery in North America. It contains over 200 varieties of ferns. I decided to do this image in black and white in order to show the contrast between the darkness of the ferns and the sunlight that was streaming in.
