Although I wanted to go for something more dark (and deep), I ended up going super simple ... mostly due to major time constraints of working full time-but hey, I did it so there's that!
Thank you all for posting your inspiring artwork, but I have to admit that James' is my very favorite (at least so far) and similar to the concept that was in my head (except the people, I can never do people). James: yours is emotional, inspirational and very touching; thanks for sharing it with us.
Here is my very simple piece: By the Light of the Moon....my "After Dark" one day challenge.

Day One of One for August 3, 2021
"After Dark - Moonlight Starburst" by Patti Deters. After dark, the moon is seen as a starburst against a dark black blue sky in the (very) early morning. The scene is a vertical image taken over a lakeshore with a horizon of trees in the background. The lily pads are reflecting the moonlight and you can just see a small part of the moon's reflection in the water. This night scene was photographed in northern Minnesota on Boy Lake, near the much larger Leach Lake. If you like this outdoor nature photograph, please see (landscapes, waterscapes, more) at patti-deters.pixels.com.

Day 1
But there's a full moon risin', Let's go dancin' in the light, We know where the music's playin', Let's go out and feel the night.
Because I'm still in love with you, I want to see you dance again, Because I'm still in love with you, On this harvest moon. Neil Young

Taking a break between laying down all the white, and I decided I wanted a scan of it before the color is laid on. I'll likely be adding the color the rest of the day, so if I don't get it finished I still have the white-on-black version. Nothing like warm candlelight and bright cheery lights in the background to brighten up the end of the year's dark time (northern hemisphere).

Wow, what a varied collection of interpretations of the theme for this challenge. I’m seeing many, many wonderful pieces here. This is certainly a fun activity.

(Ok...at another member's suggestion...I am changing my submission --same subject - but larger in frame and different colors of the neon. I will delete my earlier submission after seeing this posted.)
I got into my "Batmobile" and ventured out into the darkness for the first time in a long while last night and wasn't out long before seeing search lights in the sky which led me to this giant guitar in the sky....the signature piece of the the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The neon colors are constantly changing between yellows, blues, reds and whites giving delight to all standing by and watching -- but for those staying in one of the rooms, I'm not so sure!
Anyway, here's my entry into the One Day Challenge "After Dark"
