I just love Macaws. They are a group of parrots that are long-tailed and often very colorful. They are popular as companion parrots.
This is a watercolor and ink painting I created while participating in an art Challenge with other artists here at Fineartamerica. Our goal is to create a brand new piece of art each day for five days straight. The theme for this Challenge is the color GREEN. I will be creating watercolor and ink paintings for the challenge as I aim to improve my watercolor skills. This is Day 1.

This is my version of a colorful African parrot. He's my version since I did not follow the reference photo exactly, but did my own artistic thing. It's like I created a whole new parrot! You might not see him flying around the jungles of Africa, but he'll look swell as artwork in your home.

California Condor (#3) in Grand Canyon National Park...

(info from wikipedia)
These birds were extinct in the wild as of 1987, numbering only 27 in captivity. They were re-introduced into the wild in a few places like the Grand Canyon in 1991. As of 2019, their total population was 518.

A crowd-sourced project, Condor Watch, tracked and kept bios on each bird by tag number from 2014 to 2020. Folks involved with that project are planning on a reboot, Condor Watch 2.0, sometime in the near future.

Tropical Mockingbird by Marlin and Laura Hum

Tropical Mockingbird
The tropical mockingbird is the South American counterpart of the northern mockingbird. It is silvery gray above and white below with a long tail. It lacks the white wing patches of the northern mockingbird and their ranges do not overlap. This tropical mockingbird was photographed in Paraiso, Panama in Central America.

A pair of Hoatzins (Opisthocomus hoazin), a very unusual bird that is the only member of its family and is found in swamps and rainforests of the Amazon. It eats only leaves and has a stomach system similar to that of a cow and full of bacteria to break down the celulose. This extra weight means it is a poor flier and the bacteria also give off a nasty smell (another name for it is stinkbird). Young birds have claws on their wing digits.
