Bradford, I am pretty sure someone else just started up a outer space image thread. I'll go look and make sure.
I'm right AND wrong. There was a space thread but Abbie closed it. So sorry!

My friendly alien cannot believe how beautiful this new planet is that he recently discovered in the galaxy next to his. Everything on the planet is in shades of purple and lavender, including its one large moon. Some tall, lit up space pods can be seen in the distance. No doubt dwellings for the planet's inhabitants. And look! Two space ships just whizzed by at breathtaking speed! My alien best find a place to shelter for the night, before it gets much darker.
This acrylic painting was my Day 61 entry in the 100 day challenge I'm participating in at Fineartamerica with other artists. It was hand painted using acrylic paints on an 8" X 10" canvas panel.

Starman in Tesla Roadster in space.
On February 6th 2018, Elon Musk successfully launched the Space-X Falcon Heavy Test Flight.
Usually in a test flight such as this NASA would put a dummy payload for weight in the rocket. Elon Musk wanted to make it less boring so he put his own Tesla Roadster in the Rocket instead.
The history making launch is the most powerful rocket (by two times) that exists today. It was a tremendous success even though only two of the 3 boosters came back to earth and successfully landed. The third (middle booster) was supposed to land on an unmanned barge at sea but instead entered the water at 300 mph. Still, it was an amazing accomplishment and is the beginning of a kind of new pioneering age for space flight.
The rocket will go into an elliptical orbit around the sun and eventually pass by Mars several times which is of interest because of the plans to send astronauts there in the near future.
All that was a lead up to why I'm posting this image.
I did a couple of screen grabs from one of the videos of the launch and payload. A dummy astronaut (They're calling "Starman", in a space suit) is behind the wheel of the Tesla Roadster leaving the confines of earth. You can't see it in my screen capture but there's also a miniature Starman in a Tesla roadster on the dashboard. lol. You gotta love Elon Musk. :) If you missed the launch 2-6-18 or news of it, there's videos on Youtube which is where I gathered the info above.
Although I didn't notice any stars in the video, I decided to add some subtle stars in my conversion.
Viewing a 3D stereo crossview format, is similar to the old "Magic Eye" images if you're familiar with viewing those. With the 3D stereo crossview, make sure the entire side-by-side image is within view. Then gently converge (cross) your eyes and focus on the middle image that appears while ignoring the outside.
Not everyone is successful with this free-viewing method but if you are, it becomes easier each time and eventually second nature.

A Delta IV rocket takes off through the clouds from Cape Canaveral, FL. The payload is a GPS II SV02 "Magellan" satellite. This is the last Delta "single stick" rocket launch. The single engine on the main rocket is visible and the 2 boosters are putting out a double plume. This is called a Delta IV medium rocket.

Curious Visitors...
The original image is of the observation deck and walkway for the Patapsco river at Downs Park in Pasadena, Maryland. I darkened the image, added a milky way sky, light beams from the already existing spotlights, and three unknown lights in the top left corner. Maybe they were curious to see what was going on here?

Supermoon 11-15-16
(Updated Nov. 14) This year, the full moons of October, November and December all take place when the moon is at its closest point of approach in its orbit around Earth - a so-called supermoon.
The next supermoon will be November's full Beaver Moon, which is expected to reach the peak of its full phase on the morning of Monday, Nov. 14, at 8:52 a.m. EST (1352 GMT), but it will appear full to the casual observer in the day before and after the main event. It is the second of three consecutive supermoon full moons for 2016.
This full moon will be not only the closest and brightest supermoon of 2016 but also the largest since 1948, Bob Berman, an astronomer at the Slooh Community Observatory, told Space.com. What's more, the full moon won't come this close to Earth again until Nov. 25, 2034, according to a statement from NASA.

A recovered SpaceX Falcon 9 stage one rocket booster is on a drone ship and towed and escorted by tugboats. The rocket had been launched on June 30, 202 and returned to Cape Canaveral on July 4. The drone ship is the "Just Read the Instructions" aka Marmac 303, which was the name before the barge was equipped with motors and made into an autonomous drone ship.
