Promotion

I visit many artists each day. I find them in the groups I belong to and by looking randomly at groups I am not in. I see about thirty or more people a day and like, favorite and comment on all. Very few reciprocate. I would just like to ask that if someone visits you, please visit back. Thank you.

When I comment on others works, I have come to the point to give without expecting anyone to reciprocate. I like it better that way, because when someone comments on my work its because my work causes a ruckus with their senses and emotions to make them go farther than look and leave.

I explain more in detail on my blog post here http://www.ipernity.com/blog/frankjcasella/4717268

I comment, like, or favorite very few artists' work here. It's not that I don't care, but quite simply, I am not your market and the liking and favoriting and commenting on work, while it may help marginally in the search, is not going to put anyone over the top and get you sales. What I have done several times, is share my strategies for marketing work in the hopes that someone else such as you will find them useful in their own endeavors. Once in a while, I do find an image or painting that moves me, and when it does, I comment on it. I do not do so with the thought that the artist will return in kind. Would it be nice? Sure. Expected? not at all.

If the goal is to sell, best to spend time and effort on finding buyers rather than going back and forth with other sellers.

This is a site for selling images, not for getting an ego massage.

Constance, I use my time to promote outside of FAA.

It is my opinion those likes, favorites and comments are only being seen and being done primarily by people that are more interested in selling their own artwork than buying others.

I think a lot of people feel that way and why you are not getting the reciprocal likes, etc. I think those things are fine if you are more into the social aspects of FAA but do little or nothing to help with sales compared to advertising outside of FAA.

I used to enjoy that as well, but between time issues and pain issues I had to slow down.

There are plenty of groups with threads where you choose your favorite image from the artist above you and l/f/c it or similar promotion threads. The next artist will promote you in turn. Maybe this would be a good option for you.

You can't expect anything from anybody. The sooner people realize this, the happier they will be.

If you want to give likes, favorites, comments... they have to come from a place of pure generosity, with no expectation of anything in return. That's what true giving is.

I think expecting people to like your work just because you liked theirs is highly unrealistic and somewhat demanding.

lol, Joy.......spot on, girl.

@Constance, don't fret......all the posts so far have confirmed that commenting prob won't get you one back,
but.........
I do it anyway. I love love the art/artists here.....and say so..........and that in itself keeps me happy, occupied,
INSPIRED, and, I admit, I do now have the time compared to times gone by , to respond......b/c I don't promote
myself, anywhere ...... most folk do so in all outside/faa sites, because that's their wish, income........
not much to be earned here that way.
A lesson.

There are uses of online platforms that serve only the purpose of having a bit of fun with people, and yes often no one else shows up.

Then there are places to get some work done. That can be lonely.

Or that can be more invigorating because something or other is accomplished.

I am wondering about my Facebook presence. If I had 200 people paying attention that would be amazing. It might not mean a single sale. It would be fun, but not actual work. Not with the goal in sight of getting accomplished.

Constance, we are all doing what you are discussing online more than we want to admit. Because most of us believe we need to utilize some of our time better.
