A couple snow geese portraits on a cold winter day in Springfield Missouri at Sequiota Park. It's amazing how they stay warm in sub zero temps. Aren't they so cute!! They kept following me around. I think they thought my camera was food.

A beautiful spot to sit and rest while walking the grounds of Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton, Maryland.

This 17th century fountain was commissioned by King Louis XIV for his Gardens of Versailles. Jean Baptiste Tubi created this amazing masterpiece and it now resides in the National Gallery of Art.

I wanted to shoot a wedding theme last weekend. I have one grandmother's dress and the other grandmother's pearls from each of their weddings back in the 1920's. I wanted some of the detail and really liked the way this came out. A little soft, but still has a nice vibe. I added a couple of filters in post to enhance the texture.

Lots of history here in these photos from the historic downtown Springfield Missouri. Springfield is the birthplace of Route 66 and this street which runs down the heart of the square is part of that route. The Heers building in the background is also the first Heers store. Original was built in 1869 and then was destroyed by a fire in 1913 and reconstructed and reopened in 1915.

A pink - purple zinnia in full bloom given an illustrated and painterly style. Zinnias come in all shapes and forms and this one has many petals unlike the daisy type zinnias.

While many complain of the often brutal winters here in northern Illinois, USA, I thrive being outside and capturing the beauty of it all.

After a winter storm in northern Illinois, USA, this dried up leaf became encased in ice.


Like the leaf above this prairie plant was also encased in ice.

6 water turtles sharing a log and making room for one another in order to sun themselves before ducking into the water again for the evening.

New Zealand sun rise is a little bit different from Australia. Cloud are more beautiful!!!

Lionfish ... This colorful guy is a lionfish. He's loosely based on a photo I snapped at the National Aquarium in Baltimore Harbor, Baltimore Maryland a few years ago. Originally from the waters of the South Pacific and Indian Oceans, the Indo-Pacific, he's now considered an invasive species in the southeast coast of the U.S., the Caribbean, and in parts of the Gulf of Mexico. With his venomous spines and basically no predators, he's turning into quite a problem for the commercial fishing industry.

This photo was taken along the road to Hana, on Maui, Hawaii.

Photographic art today -

There is little doubt nowadays that photography, aside from its enormous variety of uses, is legitimately considered a fine art discipline. Almost any well-known and respected museum has sections dedicated solely to photographic art; and there are a number of museums and galleries dedicated specifically to photography. Photography finally stood its ground and found its place in the art world.
