Broken Links Lead To Different Artist With Same Name.

This has happened on several occasions over the past few years and I finally decided to ask if this is something that can be corrected or not. There are time where I may have a broken link and when someone clicks on that link, it takes them to a complete different artist with the same name. When this has happened to others, it goes to their main page, but it's their page and not someone else's. Obviously we have the same name so I know that's a lot of the confusion with the computers but can this be resolved?

Here's an example of a broken link. I had an error in the title, corrected it so know this link in not accurate. I left this up so you can see what it's doing.

When you click on the link it takes you to this artist page instead of mine.

I see it going to the correct image on your Twitter account

Did you click on the one with the broken link above? I tried again on my phone & it still does it.
Clicked Twitter link above to get to broken link, then click on that Twitter post so it opens FAA site photo & it goes to the other Jennifer White.

No, it goes to YOUR image, Jennifer. Maybe on your phone but not for me on my PC

I'm clicking on the ACTUAL Twitter link, the picture above the grayscale version and it goes to your image below:

Checking from my computer- your image link from Twitter goes to the other Jennifer's profile page.

I'm on my computer and when I click on the link above your image on Twitter, it does go to the other artist.

Jessica-somehow your clicking the corrected link. It's the one where Millennium is spelt wrong. The grayscale version your reffering to is my corrected link bc millennium is spelt right. There are 2 color links on Twitter that photo, 1 is bad that I left for example other is correct.

I put up a corrected one with the 2 ll's. It's the one with the 1 l that isn't working & takes you to other Jennifer like the others are seeing.

It does it on both computer & phone.

Used to broken links just took you to a 404 error page. No attempt at all to find the right image never mind the right artist.

I don't know how new this is to even try to get to the right artist but it's a change that is at least trying even if it's not 100% successful.

As long as there's no sort of unique identifier in the URL for the artist or the image, I don't see how they can do much better... Maybe it could take you to an artist search but even then how would the customer know for sure which one is the right Jennifer White?

But I agree, I'm seeing what you're seeing. It's linking to another artist with the same name. Tried it on both my iPad and my laptop. Same in both places.

Mark - hmmm it's always done that to me since I joined in 2013. Maybe because its the same name. I just deleted the link & never worried about it before. But i now worry if there are other broken links out there I don't know about & they all go to another artist....

I didn't know if this could be addressed but wanted them to know. Abbie??

Jennifer - I've been here a few years longer. I try not to change links unless I have a strong reason to (misspelling would certainly be one). I don't remember the last time I looked to see where a broken link took me but the last time I remember, it went to 404 page. I just assumed it still did so I could have missed this change no matter how long ago it was! LOL

I wish our URLs had a fixed ID number or something that would always lead back to the right image even if we adjusted the name but I would not hold out hope for it. It's been suggested before.

PS I just tested and it works for me, if I change a title and then use the old broken link I go to my artist profile. The advantage of not having a particularly common surname. And learn something new everyday. It didn't work that way when I got here.

Don't delete images. I guess that is all I have to say, but taking my own advice is hard. Try to title works in a way that no other artist would.

Thanks for checking Mark. There have been times, one recently, where I've clicked on bad links in various group discussions, and it's gone to that correct artists page. I should have done more research and put up my companies name when I started my FAA page, but I noticed mostly everyone used their name and I didn't think to check if there were other Jennifer White's on here.

Lisa - I didn't delete the image and I don't think I've ever deleted an image. The title was misspelled and I noticed it shortly after I submitted the upload. I didn't want to leave the misspelled title, and I had only shared the bad named image on twitter so went to just delete the bad link, but decided to share on here what's happening. I try to be very careful when naming them in Lightroom, but sometimes I mess up. Lightoom needs spell check lol.

That is so odd Jennifer. I see what you are talking about when I click on the images from your twitter page and the one going to another artist.
I think when I had broken links going to my images on FAA it would link to the main FAA home page.
Now I link to my AW and broken links go to my own AW home page.
Fortunately I don't have many broken links out there, I learned to not mess with image names!

Now I've noticed a new problem I haven't seen before with the same photo I corrected to title too.

When I go to my image on AW Site https://5-jennifer-white.pixels.com/featured/quiet-millennium-morning-jennifer-white.html when I click on any product type, canvas, phone case, etc. it goes to a wall art page with all of my art?

Do I just need to completely delete these images and start over?

Looks like the product thing is fixed.

Still looking for an administrator to comment on the "going to other artist" issue.

Still haven't heard anything from admin from my support email or on here regarding this matter and if it can be looked into or not. I'd like to remove that broken link on twitter.
