Fine Art America Is My New Facebook

I recently took the facebook app off my phone and tend to come to FAA more often. I realize all the wasted time on facebook. Too much bickering and fighting for me. I just let it go and feel tons better. Work on my craft and not the recipe facebook site. YouTube is still my friendly place to go also. The informational videos get a hold of my brain. I guess I am in a learning/growing stage. Feels good.

And FB loses again...

Still have mine but I don't know why since I only auto post new work to my art page and visit my personal page an avg of once a month...

It is handy for logging in to other sites... but I really never liked FB and still don't.

I like it here.

I also like G+ and Twitter but selectively.

i use both, you can't talk religion or politics here, there are less rules on facebook, and its easier to remove someone from the thread (i can do it myself). on here there is less clutter, weird photos and things that move or blink.

Less clutter and noise here but Facebook brings me sales.

Facebook and Twitter are FREE marketing tools that can develop a large reach so as long as I am serious about my business I need to stay there. When I post I try to keep it upbeat and stay away from politics. I post photography and travel and local music stuff and ignore the crap that appears. If someone posts crap all the time - they get removed/blocked. If they post controversial or seditious stuff from time to time - I do NOT respond and simply ignore it.

I am here to try to learn (and share) some things. I am NOT here to market. I have stopped posting in contests that limit voting to Members Only (because that brings no outside people to see my work). Instead I am spending more time developing niche websites (like in my sig below) to help promote my fine art photography.

Lisa Kaiser- I myself do not have a Youtube channel. For Photography insight I really like Mike Browne. You can learn quickly on any of his 10 min videos. You will get hooked. Second choice is Thomas Heaton. A little more artsy and talkative but insightful nonetheless. I have learned that no matter what you learn about FAA or Photography in general, You gotta get out and keep shooting. Find you style and create memories. The rest will follow.

Thinking about doing that, too. Do you miss the contacts with your FB friends?

I reverted back to the old method of communication. Friends can call, I love to hear their voice.
The old days were more simple Grandma always said, she was right.
