How Long Does It Take For Aw Search To Update And Find New Uploads?

I used to think it took 24 hours for the site to index new uploads. But I uploaded several images five days ago and they don't show up.

Here is the example one I can't find - https://edward-fielding.pixels.com/featured/my-first-bike-edward-fielding.html

Unsuccessful search attempt examples:

my first bike
tricycle

Well, I just checked my site and a few I uploaded a couple of days ago aren't showing in search either! You sure do have a lot of galleries!

It doesn't show up in FAA search though.

This happens from time to time, apparently.

Travel Pics - did it ever resolve?

Here is another one. Can't be found by typing in "silo" - https://edward-fielding.pixels.com/featured/hillside-road-barn-and-silo-edward-fielding.html

Or this one - doesn't show up for "quechee" - https://edward-fielding.pixels.com/featured/old-tractor-in-the-snow-quechee-vermont-edward-fielding.html

Maybe with the server update that seems to happen on Sundays. Sales stopped cold on the 15th also.

I suppose the Olympics and news could have an impact.

It's not on your shop page? If it is then it is in the search, even if right at the back.

JC Findley

Yes, it eventually gets updated when this happens. The longest I have seen is about five days.

JC Findley

And no, the search hasn't updated in at least a couple days Abbie.

Same here.

Abbie - in my AW - the newer images don't show up in the search results even with the title or keywords. Not in the front, middle or back. No where.

Maybe give the search server a kick.

Ah well, he's up to something again....

I guess I'm not alone... Hope he kicks the search server!! :-)

Can it be? My latest image showing up in the search is from 2-12. That means no update for 6 days? Cannot really beleve this - could it be i did something wrong?

Jessica Jenney

3 days since my last uploads still not coming up in search

The search has always been a bit weird. I tried to look up my daughter's recently sold image by the specific title name, "The Towers" and gave up after 1000 images which did not have the same title (or even the word "towers") - it's a crap shoot...

Incidentally, JC your image of the same name (and towers at Henlopen) came in around image 140 or so... ;-)

5 days right now. "The Baths Glow" is on my AW in images and in it's category but using search for the general and specific name it doesn't show up.

I have no say as to when the search is run beyond nudging Abbie behind the scenes and letting her know it hasn't updated in a bit. (Which, she knows.)

Now, since this happens now and then here is how I work around it for my own marketing. If I am pushing an image out to the masses on a page that doesn't allow direct links it is important that the potential buyer can find the image on JC Findley .com. I will leave the images on the first page so they are easily found until the search updates. That way if someone does look for it they can find it either at the top of the logical collection it would be in or on page one of the images. Once the search updates I will move it further back in the deck.

Thanks JC! So i did nothing wrong - i´ll just have to wait. I just find this periode of time a bit long and wonder if this is a bit unusual.

Something definitely doesn't seem right. I have had steady sales up to the 15th. Sold five things on the 14th. Then nothing. Something is screwy.
....
Hmmm, just sold a t-shirt. Maybe the site is updating.

Edward, you KNOW how the market fluctuates and sways and even you will go through lulls. That is four days and even great sellers have four day lulls. Besides, I have been doing just as many images in QA during your four day lull as I was before so sometimes we have to just admit it is not the site's fault when heaven forbid we go a few days without a sale.

JC Findley

BTW, I have sold quite a few between the fifteenth and today.

JC Findley

Because the search updating affects your ability to sell anything uploaded before the last update?

Seriously, the conspiracy theories need to end.

Hans Zimmer

No such theories on this end, JC

JC Findley

Hans, you were not the one insinuating something was amiss because you hadn't had a sale in four days.

Hans Zimmer

Ah - i see! :o) Looks like the server´s updated :o) Great! :o)

Edward Fielding

Look like something was fixed. Sale came in and search is working. Hopefully the blockage is gone and the pipes will flow freely again.
