News - Google Removes Image Search Tab To Help With Image Theft.

Just wanted to share this tid bit with everyone.

Although it’s next to impossible to stop image use and theft whenosting our images on the net, Google is trying to help as they see the problem is reoccurring and over the years image theft has become more rampant with their use on social media and on private sites.

For those we have experienced image theft and use the reverse image search method on google this will be of interest. They have removed the image tab search option from their main search page to make it a bit more difficult to our works. According to the article there are other ways to get the image but if they don’t know how it makes it at least more difficult to do. You must use the chrome app in order to reverse search and this capability is still available.

Image search is still working the way it always has for me. The article says starting today, but apparently not.

That is very welcome. I have often said that the 'View image" button encourages someone to take it. It's much better to make them go to the website where it's displayed.

David I noticed that as well. I’m just happy they are at least making it a bit harder. They will do it regardless I know and this is an old subject but hopefully at least some will move on to other things if it’s at least more difficult.

Seriously? By eliminating the View Image button they've actually shortened the distance between seeing the image and copying the image.

Before there was Google Image Search and their View Image button there was RIGHT CLICK, which still works fine in every browser and which is how images are always copy/saved from Google Images. No one ever needed the View Image button.

They have eliminated an obstacle and sped up the get-an-image process.

Google readily admits that right-click is still available and that it will still open the full-size picture, but insists that it is "less likely that everyone will realize this is an option."

WHAT? I mean, WHAT??!!! Is there anyone with a computer who doesn't know about the right-click button?

Even when right click doesn't work, view source does: Ctrl-U

that's good i guess, i never really used that. doing a save as or sliding it off the desktop usually works too. the image is full size on that screen sample.
