Image Title Game

Paste a title and link to one of your images. The person below you reads the title, envisions what the image may look like, then views your actual image. Was it what you envisioned or totally different?

Even though most of my titles are pretty straight forward and obvious, I'll go first as an example. Many of you have not-so-obvious titles and I thought it would be fun to put a face to a name, so-to-speak. Okay so here goes. My title is "Far and Away." https://fineartamerica.com/featured/far-and-away-alison-frank.html?newartwork=true

Now, take a moment to imagine what this image looks like, then view the image. Was it what you expected? Post your response below, then post the title and link of one of your images.

Didn't expect a sallet, Hans! Also, didn't even know what a sallet was until about 2 minutes ago. See how educational this can be? :)

Hans Zimmer

Hahaha great :o) Glad i could give you that aha moment :o) I just wonder how this will work with people having much more images online than me and perhaps referring to an image well hidden in the big pile. :o) Perhaps we should have links from the titles to the images so the finding will be much more easy :o)

Alison Frank

Yes, title and link would work much better! Just updated the game. Thanks for playing along Hans.

Jessica Jenney

I don't understand, if we include a link then what is there to find?

Alison Frank

You post the title, Far and Away, and the link, https://fineartamerica.com/featured/far-and-away-alison-frank.html?newartwork=true.

Now, before clicking the link, envision what Far and Away may look like. NOW, click the link. Did what you envision completely differ from what you actually see? Or was it similar?

I expected mountains on that one, Alison. Maybe that's because I've been working my own mountain photos for the last two days. :) Beautiful work!

My title is Winter on the Lake - https://fineartamerica.com/featured/winter-on-the-lake-sharon-popek.html

Hans Zimmer

Sharon, you surprised me :o) Didn´t expect so much black in there - more blueish tones and white of course but it was a nice surprise :o)

My one´s called "An old cat"

https://hans-zimmer.pixels.com/featured/an-old-cat-hans-zimmer.html

Matthias Hauser

Hahaha, really clever Hans, love it! :-) Not what I was expecting.

All of my titles are very descriptive so I might go with this one:

https://matthias-hauser.pixels.com/featured/orange-light-bulb-matthias-hauser.html

@ Alison -- I like thinking games, and this one, combined with artwork, should be fun.

I expected your Far and Away to be about distance, but thought there would be a paved road involved. That probably has a lot to do with my own love of photographing roads and highways. Still, your image is a scene I'd like to have outside my bedroom window. :-)

@Sharon -- Your Winter on the Lake is very different than expected. Of course I thought of water, but a frosty view of a solitary lake, under heavy grey skies is what played through my head. Instead, you've played with perspective and shadows, in an interesting way. Nice twist!

@Hans -- Wow! Not at all what I expected. However, I consider the subject of your 'An Old Cat' to be one of the world's great works of art, and a long time fave of mine. Very nice to see! :-)

@Matthias -- Almost exactly as I expected! :-)

Hans Zimmer

Matthias, this was an easy one and quite foreseeable - a cool image nevertheless. Thanks for showing! very much enjoyed taking a look at it (perhaps i would have called it artificial moon lol ). If you rename and sell it i get 30% ;o) :o)))) lol

My next one is simply called "OUCH" :o))

https://hans-zimmer.pixels.com/featured/ouch-hans-zimmer.html

Thanks everyone for your wonderful reactions - i am delighted if i could give you a realy fine AHA moment :o)))

Sharon Popek

@Hans - Old Cat I did expect something different like an actual cat or maybe a musician. A nice surprise!

@Matthias - Orange Light Bulb - I did expect something more close up or selective color.

Steven Ralser

interesting idea and fun to participate in.

Here's mine - Ice portrait

https://fineartamerica.com/featured/ice-portrait-lake-wingra-madison-wisconsin-steven-ralser.html

I love coming up with the right title for the right image. Imo, no artwork is complete without the right title.

Here's a recent piece.

These Days - https://fineartamerica.com/featured/these-days-wendy-j-st-christopher.html

Steven, your Ice Portrait is just fantastic! Not at all as expected!

Hans Zimmer

Steve and Wendy - thanks for your surprises :o) Both were far from what i expected to see :o) Funny game - really is!

I don't have many that lend to this game - but I'll try this one: Meet Cookie

https://fineartamerica.com/featured/meet-cookie-rd-erickson.html

Alison Frank

@Hans- lol. "Anyone? Bueller? Is this thing on?" Your tomato image isn't showing up.

@david - I pictured a an actual salad bowl in my head with some sort of map in the background. I did not know Salinas was referred to as the "salad bowl of the world." Had I known that, I may have pictured something closer to your image, which is lovely. Between this and Hans' sallet image, I've learned two new things today. This is proving to be a fun and informative game!

@RD - I pictured a dog :)

Hans Zimmer

Hahahaha again wonderful surprises - thank you all for that!

I fixed the tomato link - i hope

Andrea Lazar

Glad to see this going again - thank you Alison and everyone else!
Funny thing the last several had in common for me - I, of course, picture what maybe I would title that way, and it is a nice surprise to see others' creativity! Coming up with titles, much less the perfect one, are not really easy!

Love all of the above! None are what I thought of!

One more from me...."Mr. Chips Photo Shoot"

Darin Volpe

Did the link not work? I didn't want to include the link text because I have descriptions as part of my titles and thought it would kind of give it away.

Here's a companion piece - let me know if this works any better:

Andrea Lazar

Darin - for me, no link came up on the original, and I thought it would be a shame to miss it.

Here's another from me - "Portrait of Gretl" - which I know, could be many things to different people...
