Poetic And Creative Titles - Image Thread

Some artists title their work with creative and poetic titles rather than descriptive ones. Titles that have nothing to do with the subject but rather a concept, an idea, or a feeling.

The subject of the image should NOT appear in the title!

Please post your images NOT ABSTRACTS and a sentence or explanation of why you chose that title.

Waiting In The Wings by Kathy K. McClellan

The title has a little to do with what's in the image but instead of being directly tied to the main subject it's tied more to the background. I chose it because it relates not only to the way the photograph was created but also to another art (acting/dancing).

Hang In There by Kathy K. McClellan

This is another image where the title has something to do with the image but is meant as a humorous encouragement for someone who may be going through a rough time in life, using a common phrase.

Fun idea for a thread, Jessica! Most of the time, titles elude me. But once in a while something pops into my head and I go with it. Naming is part of the fun.

This is my attempt at realism or as far as I got the day I painted devilled eggs in space.

When I first started calling myself "an artist" back in 2005, I was watching a TV morning show and they said that it was the solstice that day, and it was one of the two times a year you could stand eggs up on end, and they gave a demonstration.

I thought that might make an interesting picture, so I bought a couple of dozen eggs and set up my point and shoot camera and took this shot, then gave it a painterly look..

I later learned that you may stand eggs up on end any day, and the solstice story was not factual: Fake News! At any rate, I'm glad I responded to the story or I would never have taken the photo nor made so many customers happy.

David, Music notes is not what I would call poetic. It's descriptive; it it the subject.
Lisa, The title should be creative. The title should not have the subject matter in it. Devilled eggs IS the subject.

While living in Maine I caught these two gulls acting like "love birds" at just the right moment and the title seemed to be appropriate.

Egads, this would have been much easier without the realism stipulation. My reality check was returned for insufficient funds :P

@Susan, Very good!

i was having a glass of wine at pub in the village in NYC and had a short but rather intense conversation with a guy sitting next to me at the bar.
The topic was materialism in the modern world. At home that evening and started think about the conversation and began a sculpture with this
tile in my mind:

The Material World Appropriately Creates Containers In Which To Hold Things

So when I first saw this battered old basketball hoop and while doing a painting of it, I couldn't help but think about all of the kids who had played there with dreams of someday playing in college or professional ball.

I want to clarify that the title shouldn't refer to the subject in the image. Basketball hoop is in the image. Same with music notes. The notes are the subject.

Good thread topic. I usually give my images an obvious title since it makes finding them easy, but sometimes an image lends itself to something different. I thought the light in this one was inviting and draws the viewer in, hence the title.

the reason behind this is that there was a Mike. when time was passing bye, she was recorded from 452 different angles. She was also sensing that radio is talking straight to her. Her name was Mike. The moment I captured is when the time is passed bye, we see shape of time within Mike.
