God isn

I made this painting not knowing how far this series would take me. I didn't know this would be this first of 20+ acrylic paintings adorning my living room. I couldn't of guessed it would go this far, all interconnected to the thoughts I had staring at this blank canvas. It got political fast. I've always had my world view deep into my art, but this was the start of something new.

I was gifted some acrylic paints and a some canvass, I didn't have brushes so I used my fingers. I imagined I would paint god, and started with a bright line of white down the center. Now I know (or at least I've heard) you should paint the whole canvas basic and layer colors with acrylic; I'm misguided self taught and foolish so I tend to start with symbols. A cross here a star there.

I began to notice I was painting two scenes in symmetry, one depicting a Christian girl, one a Muslim girl. The differences were subtle, how they knelt, how they folded their hands, they symbols they focused on. I was excited to see the similarities, the hope, the faith, and I wondered how God would see this. I couldn't conceive of that pure white line focusing on the symbols they pray under, or the book they reflect on, but their hearts. These two girls essential goodness.

This was the first of many paintings I've made, common themes connect them and symbolism is at the forefront. I mark the foreheads of my "saints" with a white mark. White doves, pink flowers hidden words abound. I hide symbols and meaning throughout, sometimes even from my self. So if you see somthing say something; I love when my art surprises even me.

Best,
Brandon
