Abbie, whenever I entered a challenge, whatever it may be, I never consider whether it would be saleable.
This image was done for a Sketch challenge

Viv, it means that I do not want those edits where someone opens an image in a phone, one click and suddenly you have a new image
This should be more than that. It is to learn new skills and to actually edit the image yourself.
filters are okay but that should not be the be all and end all of the image edit

Abbie, finger pointing at me :D (My kind of app!)
Your new rule just rules me out!
a - I don't have such editing software
b - nor will I invest in any
c - nor will I have the patience on learning how to use it!
Can't blame you though, Abbie, one click programs take no skill & are not worthy of this challenge.

Thanks , Abbie. One thing I learned on joining this POD !........that all my images worked as originals, but not for POD, (my style then was to heighten the
texture of the canvas as part of the original's truth about it being PAINTED).
So, I learned how to use lowly Picasa to 'improve' the Art for print . I have no qualms about doing that. I call the process: enhanced, without apology.
All the above to reply about 'one-click'....that, fortunately I couldn't, wouldn't 'do' , but, everyone here is trying to attract buyers , and make their art
unique, for that purpose..........and good luck to the one-clickers.........their purpose is to entice sales........exactly why we're here, imho.
FAA is not a High Street Gallery with a set choice of work it supports, it is for any/all artists to use to the best of their ability,
incl process, to
GET A SALE!

I have so much fun with these challenges! This is such a cute image of Abbie's sweet dogs. Since they looked at attention and were at a cute pose I thought it looked like they should be on a Christmas Card. I put them in front of a winter scene of snowy trees and put seasonal bows on them as well. I processed the image in a slightly graphic and illustrative style. I added the words "Happy Holidays" to finish it out.

I have learned a lot by doing these challenges and I thank you for making me get out of my comfort zone and trying new things. :)

I am not even close to being in the league of talent that I have seen so far. I have a little software to help me do something; but I really can't compete at this caliber. I may enter the contest, but I won't post here. Good luck everyone.

I painted the entire photo in Procreate with a hartz blending brush, added some oil paint and more blending. The Dogs were repainted entirely as well. This photo edit was done with an iPad and pen. Once the blending and painting was complete, I used two apps to apply snow like effects. The tiny dots of white glimmering snow were applied in strokes with the pen on an iPad. All I can say is I loved, loved, loved doing this edit. I am in love with these cuties, and when you paint them, blend them...you just fall in love with them. oooodeeee! Thank you so much Abbie.

"The Usual Suspects"
Abbie Shore's Oct 2020 "Edit This" challenge submission #1.
In this version I went for an amusing edit. I lengthened the left side and bottom of the image and cleaned up the floor which had berries scattered around on it. I straightened out the original image and replaced the original brick wall background with a police lineup wall including heights written on the sides. I also put police department signs on the dogs showing their case numbers.

OMG.. .I love all of these edits... I love these challenges and this will be the first time I am here at the beginning of a contest.. I usually find out about with a few hours to create.. now I can put my thinking cap on and see what I come up with.. Thank you Abbie for this fun.. I can't explain how excited I get to work with whatever ypu present to us.

A socially distant Happy Halloween! This year should be interesting! I don't know what everyone is going to do but I'm not comfortable handing out candy this year. I haven't even gotten my flu shot yet!
The background is one of my images from my Harvest Collection. I also added the pumpkins.

They do say that dogs are very loyal, always a friend, and there when you need them. Married they stay together forever, chase squirrels together, and use the same hydrant. You can often see them running in a field after a Frisbee, or chasing a car, and mailmen have no chance when they team up.

Wow Abbie, they look so young in all the photos you share of them, I can't believe they are 16!
That is amazing for Alsatian! What a good life you've provided them :)
Sorry to hear Hanna is doing poorly :(

Besides dressing our two favorite doggies as masked crime fighters known as, "The Dynamic Duo", I've added a textured background which I blurred a little, a "bat signal", and two lines of text in orange with the theme of dressing for a Halloween Costume Contest. The caped crusaders are ready to party!

I said I was not going to post anything here, but decided to do it anyway. This is the best I could do. I hope I did Miss Hannah, and Mr. Darcy some justice.
First: I took my painting, and added a nighttime application, and rain. I took Miss Hannah, and Mr. Darcy and downsized them to fit the artwork. They are waiting for their beloved Miss Abbie to walk them home.

@valclav the pictures here have to do with the image at the top of the thread. to modify the image of dogs into your own creation.

Oh these are all lovely!!! Teresa, I'm glad you changed your mind!
Except for a cat that doesn't belong.
I've already removed a good many images that had nothing to do with the contest.. SO annoying

Some hand painting on a layers program, color adjusted on the curves, the background removed by hand, sketching in black applied. I'm not sure what happened to the thin black border, may have uploaded the wrong image. Checked; the black border didn't show up on the copy but it is in the thumbnail. I noticed it doesn't show up in the framed print example either. It would have been nice for the contest. Possibly Shaun could make adjustments for, say, thin black borders on the edge of the image. Possibly my uploading a JPG would solve the problem. I tried a JPG, it didn't make the black border appear.
Should the artist who provides the original image not be able to live without any of our creations (ha ha) would it be possible for you to give them a copy, Abbie? They can certainly have mine.
I see some really nice work and some very humorous ones!.
Brian, your Batman image made me laugh! The dogs look so human and their integration into the image is extremely well done.
Mike and Roger you're not far behind! lol

I like it Michele. Nice job!
Everyone has done good work here.
Thanks Suzanne Powers, for the mention. They do look human in those suits.

Home For The Holidays!!! Most fun was dressing up Hannah and Mr.Darcy for this Holiday image, Thanksgiving and Christmas both!! Lots of layers, painting and now the family is on it's way home to be together for the Holidays with their Christmas tree and the dogs enjoying the ride in the back of the red truck.

A Paws in the Country
These adorable pups decided to take a “paws” in their country walk in the shade of this beautiful tree, laden with fall foliage. The owners couldn’t resist taking this shot.
This is an Edit This October 2020 contest entry sponsored by Abbie Shores, using a picture of their pups, Hannah and Mr. Darcy. I edited the brick wall out of the original image and added this country scene behind the pups. The lighting shading and colors had to be adjusted for the fit and I added some disturbed leaves around their feet.

I'd love to enter this contest but I'm having problems downloading a high resolution copy of the image. I'm new to fineartamerica.com. I have followed the instructions and it it starts to download in two parts. It might be my internet is slow. Still trying. This looks like a fun challenge.
