My Annual Florida Workshop - 2017!

Pastel, Oil or Acrylic - Studio or Plein Air Workshop - Melbourne/ Indialantic, Florida
March 1 - 5, 2017 -- Wed., Thurs., Fri., Sat. and Sunday

$100 per day -- choose your own days! Take three or more, at $10 off per day. Florida is a special workshop I do each year ----And you can choose your own days, take one, two, three, four or all five! Registration is through me. A deposit of $100 will hold your spot. Final payment is due 45 days before the workshop. If you are unsure as to the number of days you will be attending, make your best guess, and at the workshop you can add, subtract, or change days. The workshop is appropriate for students of all levels... I make sure to "get inside your head" to find out exactly what you need!

I have done this workshop for 13 years, this will be #14. There are many returning students each year, and several new ones each year! The intention for this workshop is to have each student plan the days they can come -- just one day, or all five. You can paint in the studio or plein air on the grounds of my host for the workshop. This location is beautiful and is along the inter-coastal waterway.

You can take this workshop in any medium, but my main mediums are oil painting and soft pastel. I will demonstrate in pastel and in oil, depending on the needs of the students. I do what I think the students need to see... not a complete painting, but to give you good ideas of how to start, or about theories! I also bring a number of unframed works that I can use a visuals to illustrate certain ideas we may be discussing, along with a few good and inspiring books you can sit down for a moment an look through.



I will discuss creating studies, doing thumbnails and notans .... among all the other theories you may need to create your own personal vision.... instead of thinking of creating a "painting." We will not call what we are doing "making a painting!" We are learning and doing studies. This thought process most times takes the pressure off trying too hard! There will be wet underpainting discussed and demonstrated for pastels and for oils. We will also discuss working from photographs as if you were outdoors and the limitations of a printed photograph. ... And, I do not teach you to paint like me ... we find your vision!
