with all the above going for it I guess I must also give it a try, please sign me up and let's see who shows up in my garden

I've posted my first, and now I need to think about a bird for my next one. Happy garden birds to all of you.

Making my birds up as I go. Are using stock and public domain photos off limits if I'm using them only as a loose reference?
It's been long enough for me to forget how to post anything here. Traditional [img] tags don't work here? Searched in vain for the how-to. Since it isn't a sticky. anymore, would that mean those codes don't work or are only for admins?
That kind of code never worked here. You want the html version not bcc
Stock as reference are fine as long as you're doing the work
I'LL TELL YOU ALL IN THE IMAGES THREAD WHEN DAY TWO
11 Months Ago
My plan is to take a photo each day from the same vantage point of my front window feeder.
It's becoming an exasperating exercise.
Usually the feeder is filled with birds of all sorts.
But , now, there is a dearth.
I understand that a hawk happens to be hanging around..
I have one photo for the second day ready to go,
I would love to take a better one
Where oh where is that woodpecker when I need it????
Now, back to the front room

My entry is SPLASH LANDING, a bird having fun with water. By bathing birds refresh themselves in summer but they also keep warm in winter. Infact, if their feathers are kept clean it will be easier to preen, to spread oil on their feathers (from a gland) that will keep them waterproof and create a layer of air underneath.
That's why you can see birds bathing even in freezing time!

Thank you so much Abbie!
And so very well done, Roger and everyone!

I love watching birds playing in water! They are delightful.
Enjoying everyone’s birds! Love your ink sketch, Abbie! Now you have TWO happy Robins. :)
Roger, we saw a woodpecker in the park hammering away at the side of a metal light pole!!! Silly thing!

Thank you, Abbie. Finally got it. as 50 million times is the charm. Rusty as heck.My apologies to the poor servers.
Roger, I know people may say it's the circle of life, but my condolences. Fingers crossed for day two.

Birds still flee in terror if I'm anywhere near (even if I'm just looking at them out the window). Sometimes they run away from me, to other people. I only had a few minutes today for photography, so I improvised. I took a quick snap using the telephoto lens and then digitally painted over it. I had planned to try a challenge with photography, but things happen.
Donna, was the woodpecker making loud noises by doing that? I ask because they will try to attract a mate by impressing with how loud they can be. 2 years ago, the nearby woodpecker found our furnace vent flue on the roof. Nothing like a reverberating pounding of metal sound early in the morning to wake you up, ha ha. Eventually he'll cause the power company a problem, as he's also made a nice nesting hole in a nearby telephone pole. I guess technically it is a dead tree (it's wood)...
Joseph, yes, very loud! How funny! I’ve never heard that they do it to attract a mate. I just assumed he was a bit daffy, lol.
I think I shall do a woodpecker today. We have some lovely ones in Texas.

Beautiful entries everyone! Today my painting is BIRD AND MALVA FLOWERS. It's a joyful image with an orange little bird and the wild purple malva flowers typical of the Mediterranean in springtime.

Great challenge Abbie, thanks!

Thought the deadline was 1pm EST?
Anyway, staying away from foreshortening since it's a terrible drawing. Wound up with a twisty bird.
My woodpecker finally showed up.
Took this photo early this morning.
Tried to get a better photo, but he flew away.
There was a time, when he would screech and peck at the window when the feeder was empty.
At least with the early morning sun, the feeder is better lit
There is a slim chance that he'll be at the feeder, when I happen to be in the room.
Otherwise,...
Got to get on with my daily chores

So the deadline does not stay constant?
Ah…
5. 24 hour Days start from when Abbie adds the image posting discussion. If she opens it at 3pm your time, it ends at 3pm the following day. This is just easier for everyone over multiple time zones.
I read this to apply to image drops.

For today I made a paper cut abstract work of a bird of paradise, the animal, not the plant.

Thank you very much Abbie for this challenge and well done everyone, you all did so well!!

Fun Challenge! Thank you Abbie!
Well done to all who participated! Abbie, what kind of bird is your day 3? He’s most unusual.
Donna, that is a European Robin. They look quite different than our red breasted robins here in the states.
Thank you Shelli! Yes, he’s quite different! Kinda looks like an upside down heart on his chest.
Edited to add… I didn’t realize Abbie’s image was clickable!!
Duh

Really enjoyed this Challenge. Love birds, our blue birds just had chicks. Thank you, Abbie, for choosing this theme!!! And really great images every one of you!!!!!

Thank you Abbie. Understood.
I was speaking about the list of names. It looked like a sign that all but two people had been eliminated given some had submitted two while others had three. First timer obviously as well as the perpetual thorn it seems.
Thank you for the opportunity. I've enjoyed looking at everyone's approaches to the subject.
