Groups, And Being Schooled.

I just found out, when uploading a new photo all the groups you belong to are right there for you to see. In neat little columns.

Well the last few days, I have been willy nilly posting to some of the groups I belong to by just clicking on the box next to a group. Don't do that!

Those boxes just have the name of the group and not the rules. I will go back to my old ways of going to the groups and READ the rules before posting.

I woke up to a lot of hand slaps today. :) Sorry group admins.

Yup, too many rules. The rules need to be standardized, IMHO.

The big one is the limit of how many per day. That should at least be put in the title.

But some of the groups are like: photos of dogs barking at a full moon but only on Sundays and you have to be standing on one leg when you took the photo. The thing that made me mad was I had several of those but they would only let me post one. 😁

I'm surprised I haven't had my hand cut off

I simply disagree with Floyd.

Groups are big part of the family FAA.

When you join a group there is a box on their home page that tells you basically what the rules of that group are (or should tell you). FAA should automatically put how many images will be accepted into that group on that home page.

And members should start actually reading the criteria for joining the groups that they do instead of just checking a box saying that they read them.

There are simply too many folks that post and run and create the problems.

Are you in too many groups?

The hard part is when there are way too many rules and the titles are all the same, or they change the rules expecting you to some how remember them all. There is no way I could remember all rules in every group, even if I was in only 1 single group.

Groups are usually broad.

Contests are hyper individual.

Only place things in groups that your image fits, same with contests.

Several groups I belong to are not showing up on my profile page, what should I do.

Well, they are now showing up so pardon the question.

In response to Mike's observations,

Being in groups and knowing what they expect is a personal responsibility. Otherwise, just join the cookie cutter (Broad) ones. Being overwhelmed with rules is because someone is simply in groups they shouldn't be in. Groups are about everyone understanding what membership is about.

This leads me to believe that there should be a limit to how many groups an artist should be in. Perhaps there should be an outlet for ADMINISTRATORS to be able to point out those who join who do not follow the rules. After a certain accumulation of rules trespassed the offending member should be suspended from joining more. Should go for Contests as well.

I do agree that folks should "Only place things in groups that your image fits, same with contests."

Administrators are volunteers who "generally" have your interests in mind. Is it a crime for them to expect you to have "theirs" in mind?

I have the habit of only submitting one picture a day to the groups I belong to regardless of how many I upload that day or how many the group admin allows

With that, you also have a better chance that more of your images will be featured

This reminds me to to quit some dead end groups. Thanks

I agree with Rudy, one submission a day and no more than 3 a week. I think the Admins get overwhelmed.

I always submit to groups on my initial upload, but like Rudy if I upload multiple images that fit the group I only do one that first day.

When I go back another day to submit another image to the group, I first check to see if the last one I submitted is still pending. If I still have an image pending I won't submit another.

I'm admittedly a post and run guy, but I definitely don't want to overwhelm the administrators with my submissions.
