Does Anyone Use Electric Scooters For Photography?

Anytime I'm in a city, there are often TONS of photo opportunities but since a city is usually pretty large and it is a pain to drive around and park and pay to park in every new spot I don't usually cover anywhere near as much territory as I'd like to be able to.

For a while I've been considering an electric scooter. I guess you might call it a "kick" scooter, like the kind you can rent on the streets of DC, Columbus, Ohio and other cities around the country.

I've never even been on one but it seems like it would be a great way to be able to cover MUCH more territory while just parking once and leaving the car there. Something like this Segway

https://www.amazon.com/Ninebot-Electric-Long-range-Foldable-Portable/dp/B07WYXXL4V/

looks pretty good. On any given day I typically weigh 195 - 205 and the weight limit for these and similar ones is usually listed at 220# so with camera gear, I'd be right about at the limit.

If you've used one for this or just commuting, when it says it gets "up to" 40 miles, what is a safe range that you can plan for it to last, 75% of that? I assume 40 miles is traveling on flat terrain with someone who weighs more like 160 pounds?

It would be nice to have something that had a 250# weight limit, a 40 or so mile range and came in around 40 or 45 pounds. Anyone have anything like that?

Segway has some new ones like this:

https://electric-scooter.guide/reviews/segway-gt1-review/

that are rated to 330 pounds but the thing weighs 105 pounds so carrying it anywhere or taking it on a bus or something if needed wouldn't be very practical.

Has anyone gotten one of these things to use for wandering around cities or elsewhere for photography?

I use my motorcycle a lot and most times it is free and easy to park
At the beach my bicycle is good
Personally I am not keen on these scooters

Rent one and see how you feel

I don't have an EV scooter yet but I use my bicycle for that purpose sometimes.

LOL, no, I use a camera!
But seriously,
I hate this scooters, because I fall across them everywhere. People are not able to put them in the right place.

Oddly I did think about one of the AT types for when I’m out in the middle of nowhere and have to walk a long way to a location, mainly due to the weight of my camera gear and a bad back. Then I dismissed it as a bad idea, plus I’d need to try and find somewhere to keep it in my camper (and charge it). The extra hassle outweighed any potential benefit.

Electric scooters are actually illegal in the UK unless provided by an approved rental company or you’re using them on private land. There’s still loads of illegal ones out and about though as the police don’t seem to know what to do with them. Every now and then a few get confiscated but that’s about it.

I just got an eBike, both for riding to work, and riding around town with my camera.

saw this one yesterday, $679 at Costco, no weight limits, but said the more weight the less range

I got a Cube pedal assist bike a couple of years ago and it's fantastic. You can basically get as much exercise or as little exercise as you want because of the different levels of assist. I feel like it would be much safer than a scooter but still has all the benefits of a scooter.
