Is that wysteria house, later in the season? Or is that a different house, because I see grapes on that.

I assume you really mean that the contest starts August 20th?
Edit: actually checking the contest info it says voting starts August 13th.

While Grace Carpenter takes a great picture - hi there Grace! - I'm not sure she took this photo of a cottage in Denham, Buckinghamshire: I must take the blame for that! :))

Jack
It's got your name on the actual image in the folder. I forgot to change it here. I'm sorry

My 2nd version of Abbie Shores' Edit this challenge 52(b) - (Thanks to Jack Torcello for the original image).
I added animals, (two cardinals, blue jay, rabbit, squirrel) a lady waving from the open window on the roof with a cup in the other hand, a female's bicycle (I added the kickstand separately), newspaper, and shadows. Then I added a watercolor painting effect via Photoshop.

Thank you, Jack Torcello, for the original image! It was fun to edit. My edit consists of flipping the house perspective and placing it on a sandy beach as if in the middle of the beach for a real beach house. I put surfboards and a boat by the house as well and gave a digital art look to the final image.

@Alison
I'm flattered! Thank you.
And a great treatment of the image.
FYI - many famous movies were made in Denham - where this 'mansion' is to be found.

John Mills (of Ryan's Daughter fame) lived in Denham.

My 3rd version of Abbie Shores' Edit this challenge 52(c). I added animals, (two cardinals, blue jay, rabbit, squirrel) a lady waving from the open window on the roof with a cup in the other hand, a female's bicycle (I added the kickstand separately), newspaper, and shadows. I also added a brick facade over the unfinished side of the building.

Thank you, Jack for the photo. Abbie, thank you for continuing these contests that are always fun for me. The beautiful swirling pattern on the side of house reminded me of my childhood growing up during the 60's, so I decided to take a psychedelic like type of edit to the photo. Peace, man! Peace out! I remember my Mom dressing me and my sister in matching paisley tunics with beads during this time! LOL

Hey Jack,
Do you know anything about the history of the blue and white mural on the side of the house?

My 4th version of Abbie Shores' Edit this challenge 52(d). Since the green vines around the house show grapes growing on them, I decided to turn the place into a vineyard business.
I added a brick facade on the side of the house that had none to match the other brickwork.
I added workers picking grapes from vine around the house. I also added a sign that says, "Harvest Ridge" and included male and female hands holding wine glasses toasting. Above, there is an open window where I added a lady smiling and holding a wine bottle as if to show the photographer what it's all about.
In the foreground I added a man holding a shallow crate of white grapes. I added a couple of ladders propped against the house so the men could reach the top vines as well as a man on one of the ladders and a hanging bucket for him to contain the grapes he pics. I included shadows for all the added elements.

My 5th version of Abbie Shores' Edit this challenge 52(e). Since the green vines around the house show grapes growing on them, I decided to turn the place into a vineyard business.

I included shadows for all the added elements.
In this version I extended the image into a panorama to show a vineyard of grapes in the background. To match things up I extended the brick wall, brick driveway, and removed the wooden gate. I digitally matched the sky color and added clouds and in the foreground I added a hedge and some shadowing.

How in the world do we compete with Brian Wallace! But here I go again.
In the film industry, it was not unusual in the early years to shoot night scenes during the day. Due to the fact that the films were being shot in black and white, it was easy to play with the lighting and make the scene look dark enough to fool the viewers. This procedure was known as 'Day For Night'. By taking the original image of a house shot in the daytime for for 'Edit This 52' here on FAA, and adding two separate pieces of imagery I actually shot at night in a fair ground, I have turned a modest photograph into a night scene of street party activity.

A man sitting in an art gallery is enlightened by the book of art revealing mysteries about the paintings hung on the wall in the background. I replaced one of the framed paintings with an altered image of the house provided, and added intense colour and light rendering to create an image of a man having a mystical experience in The McMichael Gallery of Art in Kleinburg, Ontario. I'm still addicted to this contest series.

For my 3rd and Last entry for Edit This 52, I created this piece, starting with the simple image of the house provided. After adding some imagery collected from my collections taken in New Orleans and at a Toronto Street Festival, I have recreated the scene to look like some tourists and a busker are outside a New Orleans restaurant and bar. Believable? Maybe.

Thank you Nina, for the flattering reference. I appreciate it but the truth is, the FAA "editors" responding to Abbie's edit challenge have all upped their game and the contest results show the diversity of the member's votes for each contest we're given.
I usually start editing as soon as I see the new contest is available and have no qualms about submitting early pieces. I suspect however that many masterpieces will be submitted near the end of the submission phase, I suppose, to have their entries near the beginning for viewers. Of course, I'd love to be honored with the top spot at the end, but if I don't, I've still gotten good practice and experience in something I'm still a novice at.
One thing we can all count on is having a bit of fun and exercising our imaginations. For me, imagination is a key essential for creativity which I believe is the foundation for fine art in general.
Wishing you and every member all the best.

"One thing we can all count on is having a bit of fun and exercising our imaginations." - I totally agree, Brian! Just wanted you to know that I'm always blown away with your imagination.
And thanks, Abbie, for keeping us on our toes.
