Set Up A Shop On Facebook Using Faa As A Checkout

Since the FAA shopping widgets are no longer working on Facebook, are we able to set up a shop on Facebook pages where we post our products and then use FAA as a checkout? Is anyone doing this? Does this work with FAA or premium sites?

Hello Jessica
I started my store on facebook recently, managed by Facebook Business Suite, and I have been adding some photos, with a direct link to a page on my website, which does not have an online store, only a form. All this without problems. When I tried to create a FAA-linked product with the lowest price available, it was not accepted, something may be wrong. I dont know!

Vincente, thanks for responding. I just looked at your Facebook page and I saw that your checkout goes to your personal site not to FAA. Now that the FAA shopping widget no longer works with Facebook I was wondering if we can have FAA as a checkout.

These shops need to be submitted for approval by Facebook, so I would like to know if we can use FAA or our Premium site as a checkout.

Jessica,

There was a bit of talk about the development of a WooCommerce app here at FAA. I think Abbie said there was paperwork on it with Sean.

But I have no clue where that stands now. Many of us want it.

David, that is not the same thing. I see that others are using checkouts of other POD sites.

I wonder if Sean has anything to do or say about it?

Jessica,

Petty sure it is the same thing. At least going by Vincente was saying to you up top of this thread.

People have added a cart or something to their page. That is different than the set up you asked about.

I saw his shop. He is using another website for his checkout! I am asking about using FAA as a checkout.

I am not talking about the old FAA shopping widget that has been discontinued.

We are looking into all this now

Abbie, I see that others on Facebook are already using the premium sites as a checkout!

After seeing this post, I went through the process of creating a shop on my FB page, and got a message that it will be reviewed and then informed of the outcome in 24-48 hours. I couldn't tell from the setup process how, or if, it might work with our premium site, so will see what happens with my setup application and if approved, do some further investigation.

Jessica Jenney

Yes, Philip I did the same and mine is also under review! I added several images to my shop and I added my premium site as the checkout.

Well, that would be super cool if it works out. Looking forward to a definitive answer! Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Jessica.

Well the review was quick, approved in about 30 minutes! Will look into this further over the coming weekend as it's 8.30pm in the UK now and my favourite TV prog starts at 9pm.

It does work, Peggy! We don't need permission from FAA. Facebook just approved my shop!

Coolio! I'll check it out. Thanks again!

I'm seeing that after you add images to your shop it takes quite a while for them to show up.

It's a very slow process! The old FAA shopping cart widget was better!

I went to Jessica fb

Sadly that is clunky to use as a shopper, too many clicks, not enough info on the item, then have to click off to premium site :(

FAA shopping widget MUCH better

Jessica Jenney

I deactivated the shop for now. Too much work! :(

Just had a quick look at this, and it does look like a lot of work is involved if you need to add products to the shop manually one at a time (other options, but more complicated, are available for bulk uploads). At the moment, it seems you can only link your products on another platform if that platform is a business partner with Facebook, and FAA is not on the list of current partner sites. So that option would only be available if FAA becomes a partner site.

What I am not clear about though, is how display of product prices in your shop would work. In the FB tutorials, all shop items had a selling price, but with POD sites like FAA, we only know for certain our individual markup prices, as presumably FAA base prices are variable and change over time. Because of this, how would we be able to sync prices on our FB shop with the actual customer cost displayed on FAA? Unless its possible to link the FAA customer product cost to the FB shop, how would display of price's work???

Jessica Jenney

Philip, You can use your premium site as a checkout. I didn't try FAA. It's just about adding a link to the image on another website.

Philip Preston

Jessica, if we can use our premium site for checkout, then presumably each image would have to be added manually, which would be quite a lot of work if you wanted to add hundreds of images. Also, did you notice if the FAA customer price was pulled through from the premium website to display the selling price on the FB shop?

Jessica Jenney

Philip it IS a lot of work, which is why I decided not to use the shop! Not worth it for me.

I think that's also my conclusion at the moment, especially as the old FAA widget still works on my FB site! Having said that, if FAA became a partner site and we could pull products directly from our premium site (so no manual uploads of images required) I might be interested, as there appear to be more options to customise the display of the FB shop, while no customisation is available on the FAA widget. Seems like its a case of 'watch this space' at the moment.

Abbie......over to you!

Hi Jessica, I went over to your Facebook page. It looks beautiful!

OK so here's a thing I see that you have a "shop now" button on the upper right in blue. I'm pretty sure that will only appear that way if you have classic mode set. When I was in the new mode that wasn't there. I went back to classic and got it back (losing about a months worth of postings)

What I was able to do was add a listing.

I'm not always the clearest person so I hope I making sense.

It would be great if there was a capability to had the store show up in the page itself. The same way it does when you have a listing.

From what I'm gathering here the new mode is much different than the classic mode on the Facebook pages.

I apologize if I'm not being clear.

Thank you Jessica, that's what I'm trying to do but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong..looks great.

on the left side of your page where your controls are there is manage shop. Click on that and follow instructions. You will need approval for your shop from Facebook.

My layout might be different. It is in the classic mode, are you talking about the thing that says "go to business Suite"? I think I do have a shop FB approved but I haven't been able to figure out how to make the whole store show up. I am still waiting on shopping approval from IG.

I know it's the same company but I'm not really clear if it will all be the same meaning that once the Instagram shop get approved that would also be Facebook, but I found it strange that I was able to upload a listing on to Facebook if I wasn't approved.

I only was able to add one more thing so far. I'm sure there's a simple explanation but I haven't figured it out yet. thanks for trying to help.

I was able to get this set up:

https://www.facebook.com/commerce/products/6071628519529598/?ref=page_home_tab&referral_code=page_shop_card

I am on "classic" mode in FB. Maybe things would make more sense if I was on the "new" mode but it's not letting me go back to it.

I haven't found any answers to this challenge. I imagine there are answers somewhere out there.

Hi Jesica, Do you think you are seeing any traction on the FB shop yet? I've added 5 items and I priced them low as you said. But in my description, I added "Prices start at about $17 but vary depending on the item purchased. Cards less, Framed Prints are more."
That way people won't say I lied about costs.
Also I showed your shop to my wife and she thinks your work is really good. She loved your water lilies (I now have to go find some... :-)

The one thing I did was add images of different products, what are your thoughts on that? I did not do variations, just added 3-4 images of home decor. When I get my store up to 20 items I may publish it... (I've already been approved)

Have you checked to see if your number of FB referrals has gone up?

I added items with mock-up pics from FAA. Here's my store that I am slowly working on:

Alison that looks great!

I managed to upload two things, but they're not related to each other. The way you have all yours on the same size and couch really works well.

Jeff.... I haven't thought too much about the price, so I probably shouldn't of featured the $99 framed print. Thanks for sharing about that!

That looks like you are selling an image of a sofa under the art. Not just the art print.

adding my bad, I see how that works now. The landing page is correct.

I'm not sure if I am in Classic Mode or New but I no longer have the Shop Now button and I'm afraid to change it as I don't want to lose anything. I don't even have the option to view as a visitor which was a nice feature. I don't even see the "switch to classic" or "new" option.

I have 82 products including some variants. It was not easy setting up. I have checkout in Facebook so I had to manually add all the details. My goal was to make it easy for people to order without gong to another site and to show products from my own inventory and my Etsy shop. An interesting advantage to having the shop is that if you create a post that shows items you have in your FB shop you can tag them so viewers will be able to click and checkout right from your post. There is an option to "show similar items" also. This doesn't work if you share to FB from FAA or another POD. Only works when you manually create the post and add the link back to FAA or wherever.

Karen.. If you no longer have the "shop now" that means that you're in the new mode.

This is where I ended up with trouble, I saw an option to change it back to classic and I click the button, there were some other information on there that I didn't read. I lost a months worth of posts. oh well. I don't see a way to put it back to "new" you are wise not to mess with it.

Your shop looks great!

I guess it's different when you have actual physical items as opposed to just the "FAA/ pixels" style website to add.

It's very confusing.

I did mine differently but I really like what I'm seeing in others shops... I added different views of various products to show the image of different products. Before I published I found that my followers could see my shop posts, I sold a mug within an hour of starting to post...

Now if I can get more traction on sales...

Jeff, check your Facebook page in your contact area. Is that your page? I noticed that I am getting more followers now.

Karen, you do have the option to view as visitor! On the right side near your small avatar is a drop down arrow: how to interact. Interact as yourself.

Jessica - Thanks for that info. I forgot all about it. I noticed that when I view as my profile the menu on the left has Home - Shop and More. The Email sign up heading is under More. This is very frustrating because when i view it as my page the Email Sign up is visible. Just one more aggravation. I'm getting really annoyed with the constant changes they make and the lack of real support. .

Sue - Thanks. I will leave well enough alone.

I get some visitors in shop items and sales mostly in Etsy but it's hard to tell where they are coming from. I do notice more visitors in FAA and Etsy of products I post to FB..

Jeff are you going to try to submit your pixel/FAA website to IG?

I received a notice that said I could link my website to IG. I tried to link FAA/pixels I j received an error message and it would not verify the website.

I searched these discussions and I think I read it can not be done.

Abbie is that correct?
Pixels/FAA can not connect to IG for shopping?

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but recently noticed FAA has set up its own FB Shop, no idea how many products, but seems to be quite a lot.

I hope FAA is considering being an official FB partner with this so we can automatically link to our Pixels premium sites, rather than having to do the laborious one by one manual additions currently required.

Just happy to let you know that it does work. I made my first sale through my FB Shop. Sold a small framed signed print of "Mooeow". FB offers you the choice to purchase a shipping label and they handle notifying the customer that it has shipped. They deduct the label cost from the sale. You also have the opportunity to contact the customer since they give you the email, name and address. I did that and thanked the customer and provided a link to my newsletter. So the customer found the item in my shop. It wasn't a piece that I advertised or marketed recently. Once you purchase the label you have 3 days to ship it. I will send it out today.

Congratulations, Karen.

So in this case you are doing all of the product fulfillment, right? FAA is not really a part of this particular transaction?

Sue Zipkin

Congratulations Karen!

Exactly that's what I was going to ask Bill.

I have only figured out a way to manually add items that link to my FAA/pixels shop. It would be great if we could add the full store at one time.

It's one by one, but I see it as more of a sampling my work. The buyer can get to my site through the checkout and look around and find more stuff.

Bill - Yes, i do the fulfillment. Just like with an Etsy shop. If the item was something I am selling from my AW I would just place the order from there and drop ship.

Sue - Yes, all manual.

Jessica - Are you able to judge if it is working for you?

David - It sure is a lot of work. Good luck!

Thank you for the responses, Karen. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

I have applied and been accepted by FB - but have, as of yet, done nothing. It sounds like it's time for me to get to work - but I will have the "Checkout on Website" link go to the appropriate image on my FAA premium site.

Presently all I see after setting up shop on facebook is a tedious task adding one image at a time while putting a link to Pixels/FAA to each image where purchase is made not on facebook but on your site, premium,... Currently I see no integration between FB and Pixels/FAA like there is between FAA and Shopify. I am trying to complete linking my FB and IG account for shopping. I need to verify my website (FAA premium at pixels)/domain but Im stuck. I checked Youtube for help but briefly..no luck, yet. I checked youtube for help verifying website for FB and artists who are at Pixels/FAA but so far i see no youtube video for help specifically for us FAA artists. I wish FAA would integrate and partner with FB. In the meantime Im reconsidering going through Shopify since they are integrated with FB and FAA. Just didnt want to spread myself too thin and tend to my art too. I am also at Etsy and everything is running smoothly with POD companies' integration there. I think POD sites like FAA could service us also by directly partnering with FB and IG.

Abbie Shores

You cannot verify this site on any other site unless they accept you putting a temporary something in your ABOUT area
The FB shop is manual

FB do not want you using other sites. They like you being beholden to them and Shopify, where they make their money
