How To Help People Here And How To Be Helped

I'm seeing a lot of people jumping on to help new people which is amazing and we (I) thank you a lot.

However, I'm also seeing much confusion in the way things are answered also.

So a quick guide on How To Help.

Firstly, don't be in such a rush to be the first to answer that you don't even read the question fully. Often the correct answers are the second ones or third, where people took the time to read through and get the right response.

Read the question properly

Secondly remember we have a few ways of selling. With some the member IS the customer. (Shopify or Etsy for example) so just telling them they have no rights is wrong.

Find out how the work was sold before offering refund/return advice.

If a question is short and not giving details, get the full question first. Even in tech I will often reply with... I think you will agree that I cannot help with that little input.....

If you don't know the answer, don't guess. Guesses are 90% wrong. Leave it to someone who does know.

If it's about login issues, that's 'customer supports' area now.

Don't be answering people just to get your name and links on the thread (I know at least one person does that because he admitted it in public a year ago) UNLESS you actually know the answer. Answer only if you truly want to help and always be courteous to others as you expect them to be courteous to you.

Never put the site down in your answer. We all sell here and you're disrespecting all of us when you chase people away.

To those people requesting help. If you're rude to someone who tried to help you, even if they totally misunderstood, you'll get removed from the forums. Nobody here has to help you, they are doing it because they want to help you. So take mistakes and roll with them.... Keep it respectful!

Thanks.

Abbie,

Part 2: People that post questions and receive help from fellow members, THAT person should out of courtesy, acknowledge the responses, doesn't have to be individually, but can thank the group's answers. See many questions posed here, lots of responses and then the original poster never responds or comes back.....seems two sides to every coin...

I think the biggest reason why others made them say one succeeded is how he could

Rich, I've seen that too, but, want to add, I have so often not had a direct reply, but a visit to an artwork with a courteous FAV. ...
I do the same, in gratitude.

Yes, some people respond in private, or by commenting on work instead

Beautifully and clearly expressed, Abbie. Thank you for your efforts in doing that. Because of things you mentioned, is why I tend to stay quiet in the forums, but I do learn a lot, and appreciate the efforts of those who do share helpful information.

I am looking forward to seeing things handled better in the future.

I may need a little help understanding and navigating things like my own website and - what are widgets? - I'm not new to the site; just to the forum, and I am 54 and have never had a site of my own before.

After I joined Fine Art America several years back, I became ill and had to undergo several surgeries - I still painted when I could, but I suffered a hypoxic brain injury from a prolonged lack of oxygen which led to my being on life support for 7 days. I can get lost in reading directions or instructions sometimes. But I'm fine reading the Congressional Oversight Reports. It sounds strange, I know.

But enough of that. I will try first - I want to do things myself. It's good to know others are willing to help me. I was a little intimidated to join this site. I just didn't think my art was good enough. It has gotten better.

My iPhone doesn't take the best pictures. So I need some advice on how to get some clear and great photos of my art without hiring a professional.

You see, I've been painting for almost 14 years, I've sold just about 20 - 25 pieces in all that time, and it can be discouraging.

I need to learn how to promote my artwork.

Thanks for any suggestions at this time.

Hi guys. I’m new to fine art America and don’t really know much about the site and how to navigate. I’m also a new photographer and saw this community online and thought it would be a good start for me. I think my work is pretty good to be honest but I would love more feedback from people. Especially on how to get my photographs selling. Could anyone explain to me how this process works? And what’s a good way to make sales would love for this to be a passive income thing? Thank you guys.

Here’s the link to my website if anyone would like to take a look. Thank you again.

I would like to know if anyone here is also doing the Shopify connection?

Are you able to upload your artworks to sell there?

Anyone has any tricks or pointers how to work out issues?

Trying to get the Season going and would love to Use the Tool to the Max!

Any HELP greatly, greatly appreciated.

Stay Safe everyone, and much success throughout.

Anushka, I recommend doing a search in the discussion forum on "marketing" before asking a question about how to sell your photographs here. Maybe someone will chime in with a list of links to to relevant discussions, they often do.

Once you've reviewed what's been discussed about marketing here in the past, if you still have a question then start a new discussion, just make sure you ask a specific question.

I have an Update on the Shopify issue:

Please tell me someone here has been able to get it working correctly.

First thing I did was delete the App and start from scratch. Reinstalled and then....

I tried & it only uploads to Shopify a few of the articles per artwork. What am I doing wrong? Abbie, can you please help me out here?????

Please update whether Sean is working on it as part of the overhaul at FAA and it will all be great in time for the Now Holidays Upon us!

I need to speak to a real person to find out why my gift to my sister has not shipped yet. It said Oct 16 it would ship. Her Birthday is the 26 and today is Oct 21st. This is my first time ordering from this site. I might not shop here again if I can't get response. It tells me to check the no robot. Well that does not work. I use Chrome already. I need help with this purchase.

Hi, I am not sure where to ask this question. I co-founded a collective of artists, Compassionate Arts in Action and we focus on arts for community based issues like racial justice, environment and health. Several of us artists have an artist's site on Fine Art in America. Is it possible to set up a Selected Collection of Compassionate Arts in Action? With links from the art to our individual sites on FineArtAmerica? When art products sell in the collection would the profit sale go to a Paypal/bank account for Compassionate Arts? We could link off of our websites and social media.

thank you.
