How Do I Take A 360 Panorama With A Phone?

i'd like to be able to make some location panorama's for google sphere. i think they are neat overall. but, i have no idea how to make it. i can make a pano, but get very dizzy spinning in a circle. and i've seen people use just a phone and a selfie stick, while sitting on a moped, in traffic, take the shot. and i have no idea how they did that.

is there an attachment i need? i'm using an android phone with a dual lens, so i'm not sure if anything is compatible. and how would i go about uploading it as a sphere, should i opt to spin in a circle?

also i seem to remember a weird mirror gadget for an SLR that shoot in all directions and then mashes the distortion straight again, anyone remember that thing?

thanks

Mike
In my phone there are option on the screen, when click on the Camera icon, it give you the options .. Photo, Video, Panorama .
You select Panorama.
My cell phone is Samsung A10.

Or you can buy a 'lazy suzy' big enough to stand on , carry it with you and stand and spin to take photos. 😊

I played with this phone app when it first came out but I'm usually to busy with my camera to remember to use it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vtcreator.android360&hl=en_US

i can make a pano, but it seems there are some that can do it in one single shot. most of these sphere's show a person looking down while holding a stick in the air. so whatever it is, its probably super easy to do.

I have not done a full 360 panorama, but we have done other panoramas using the Panoramic feature on my android and on my husband's iPhone. It works well on both by just slowly scanning the scene. We do it handheld
You can even have fun with including a person in the scene at the beginning and at the end by having him leave the scene after he is no longer being photographed, and repositioning himself before the camera gets to the other side.
Don't know anything about doing a single shot 360 pano.

I have done it by putting it on a tripod and rotating the just the head of the tripod. The trick is, of course, the tripod has to be very level.

If spinning isn't an option, I'd suggest just taking multiple shots while turning at your own speed. Try to maintain some reference point, so there is some overlap in the scene between shots.

Import those shots into Lightroom. Select the shots you want stitched together, then Photos > Photo Merge > Panorama

EDIT: There may be some mobile apps on the store that can stitch the images together for you as well. Doesn't work in Lightroom mobile that can tell though.

i'm trying to find an example of a one shot. lately i've been going on google vacations. going on street view at random locations and just seeing what's there. the lack of stimuli was something that was missing. looking more carefully at them, many used a tripod. looking down i can see legs or head. but now and then i see a stick and arm. so there must be a way to do it in a click.

when i'm a trip, a pano in one spot really gives a good feel to it. but i can't see spinning around with my phone just to get it. i get motion sick easily. i have one program that draws a circle and i have to connect that circle. it allows the camera to focus and keep it straight. its a neat idea. but looking at that circle while spinning myself, and well, its not ideal. nor is it that easy.

here is an example. i think the car is moving even. he has a selfie stick up, took a full view. that's what i want.

i tried google street view app and a few others. and all involve me spinning in circles. i was dizzy for about 4 hours turning 3 times around. so that is totally out. yet i'm looking around and people seem to look at a phone or out of a car window or something and get a near perfect shot super easily. am i missing something? its driving me crazy now.

That's not a single shot. You can see distortion and evidence of stitching.

and yet, he seemed to have done it while either waiting or sitting, without seeing what he was shooting. i don't get how to do that. i'd love to get placement shots of where i was, but i can't see people spinning in a circle to get it. everyone seems to have something on a stick.

this one has a lady looking at her phone, i assume the gps, while holding a stick and it got the pano. so whatever it is, its something easy to do. because it looks like they took a number of them in a row. she seems to have documented her trip that way. i can't tell if its a special camera, something linked to the phone and it just shoots a bunch of shots or what.

here's another one. he held it in the air and shot it while not looking at it. whatever it is, seems like it does all the work for them. i'm trying to see the shadow on it, but so far its either in shade or cloudy.

i'm hoping for a cheap solution.

I don’t know what phone you have, but try this advice. You have to keep the phone moving for it to work. https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-207201/

most of the phone apps forces me to spin in place getting the shots. one sort of travels as i rotate, and it looks terrible, when inside. sort of ok outside. and another that gives me a good pano but its a low rez. and i have google street view which has a 360 option, but needs many pictures, you can only rotate in one direction or it very much messes up the shot. and you can only view it in that program.

i'm guessing its a special camera. one click and its done sort of thing. yet i saw a lot of poor countries, where i couldn't assume that they bought a $400 camera just to take 360 shots. i suppose they could of though. it takes a neat selfie and people have become pretty vain.

Move Left to right, but getting a great panoramic photo takes practice, lots, try not to spin to fast or to slow.

Just tried doing it with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. There is a line and an arrow you have to stick to, if you move to fast, it tells you to slow down.

I’ll give it a go tomorrow when I am out and about.

i have that. i get dizzy super easy. and i can't see myself doing it on site. though i did get some good shots of the back yard, i keep track each year as it progresses. but i can only make like 2 before i have to sit down for a while.
