Sometimes it might help to block the e mail address of the sender, although about half the time the address of the sender is something bogus that changes, so that might not help. Any kind of response you give labels you as a "live one" and will probably be sugar for more flies.
The past few days, I've been getting messages purporting to advertise for Maryland State government job openings. Ironically, they picked the wrong guy since I used to actually work for Md State government, recruiting for employees, so I know that they are bogus. I've passed it on to the "authorities" in State government since I think they might have an opinion about who claims to be the government.
One thing that's worth trying is to have several e mail addresses and keep one for purely personal use with people you know. Use the others when you need to enter an address to get into a site or whatever. It becomes a sacrificial offering and once it is overwhelmed with junk, just close it.
