Music That Inspires Us

I know this has been done often, but after some time away, I'd like to hear from you what song inspired a specific piece of art. A great opportunity to share a video of the song and the artwork.

Hi,

This is an image thread. You need to contact Abbie Shores, the moderator, to see if she will allow the thread.

She might, good luck,

An abstract musical face, inspired by the song of the same title by Iris DeMent. Lyrical sweeping guitar strings play across a rippling melodious eye, while dancing waves of melody rise above a delightful garden of fingers.

I find a ton of music inspiring.

Wrong Side of Heaven by Five Finger Death Punch kinda-sorta inspired a series of pieces including the one I have posted below.

No song has directly inspired an image I've made, but a few titles have come from lines in songs. It's more often after the fact that make the connection.

Is This As Good As Life Can Get, a line from the Alan Parsons' song "Siren Song". Sorry, can't find the code to show the youtube video...

A soft rich glow of vibrant color and kaleidoscopic abstract pattern; symbolic beauty from trash and disrepair found along a forest trail.

From photographs of a rusty chain and flagging on a broken fence. The title is from the great Neil Young album.

Cool idea for a thread.

I find many of Cinematic Orchestra's songs to be inspiring.

Tara,

I have heard Sound of Silence performed live by Disturbed a few times. Great stuff by David Draiman (and the band) and it always brings the house down.

While I have tons of great shots from more than a hundred big metal and rock acts, unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to get any great shots of Disturbed. Only snaps. ;(

582 million views on that upload alone. :)

Cheers

I would rather try and make art to inspire songs.

I do however on occasion, use song titles or partial song titles or lyrics for my art titles, influenced also by my sense of humor as I've done with the image below, "Son Can You Play Me A Memory". That of course is from the song, "Piano Man" by Billy Joel.

Below:
An image of the St Michaels Christ Church's organ pipes in an archway with the Phantom of the opera (Lon Chaney Sr.) at the bottom gesturing as if he's playing the organ flamboyantly.

St. Michaels is a small waterman's town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I captured the interior of the church's organ pipes on a visit for the town's Oyster Festival and thought it might be cool to have Lon Chaney Sr. as the famous Phantom in the foreground under the organ pipes.

Such variety of music and art !

I did the full "Bohemian Rhapsody" shown here, posters sold well locally, and some inspired by one or two Bob Dylan lines.

I love listening to baroque music, especially Bach. His "Sheep May Safely Graze" and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" make me glad to be alive. And I like the mystical atmospheric orchestral stylings of Nox Arcana.

David, try Home Free, Ring of Fire.

Don, watch Disturbed on Conan, possibly the best version of "The Sound of Silence" at least by Disturbed anyway.
