Yep, it was fixed in yesterday's update for those that keep their computer updated. Thanks Jessica.

Just do your normal Windows updates (released this past Tuesday) and this will be patched.

While this is indeed something bad that needs to be patched, there is currently no exploit in the wild. In other words no one had written code to take advantage of it. Yet. They will probably within the next week or so.

Yes, Jeff and Chuck, I also got the update yesterday! Scary!

Good link Abbie. I just did mine at the end of December. No issues. They want you to upgrade so this has been a "hidden secret" since the official free upgrade ended.

New version of Windows 10 from 1903-1909. Has anyone installed it?

I haven't had time to think about it for either my home machine or for work machines. I just got done rolling out the 1903 upgrade to 1400 Windows 10 PCs at work. The only issue we had we black screens on first boot. Turned out disabling Fast Startup fixes it. I haven't read anything real negative about 1909. We won't test 1909 until probably June. We don't like to be on the bleeding edge.

i found a sort of fix for it getting stuck on the windows screen with the roly.

if you have a program that can load up on start up, i can get to the desktop on the first try. right now i have the wacom desktop loading up in the main tab. yesterday i had programs annoy me to update them, but it went through without a reset. so while annoying i think this is a good enough work around when they botch an update.

i found disabling fast boot didn't help me, i even erased the hibernation file. so far the loading something seems to be working

oh it looks like my last post on here vanished with the site crash.

We don't need to download and install now 1909. We can wait. I had some other updates waiting to be installed and the 1909 is a separate download

Don, I don't see that download number update in my history.

What I am seeing is Windows 10 KB4540673 & KB4551762 updates Microsoft has released KB4551762 just two days after the initial KB4540673 cumulative update on March 2020 Patch Tuesday. KB4551762 is also a cumulative update. That means if you are missing any security update, you can install KB4551762 and all fixes will be installed for you.

This update KB4551762 only includes one fix but it is an important one. Microsoft just fixed the vulnerability in the SMBv3.1.1 feature which was introduced in Windows 10 Version 1909 and Version 1903.

My new computer (Nov 2019) is actually working now with the latest fix. The previous update was giving me constant blue screens of death for the last several months.

i can't tell if the latest one helps or not. i do get delays now that i didn't before. and its still not resetting right. the problem is, it forces the download on you. in windows 7 i could choose what to install.

https://www.thewindowsclub.com/make-windows-10-notify-you-before-downloading-or-installing-windows-updates
this site explains how to use the group policy editor to let you see the update before installing it. so i can review it after a few days.

and this https://www.itechtics.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/gpedit-enabler.bat will download a batch file that will enable the group policy editor, if you don't have yours in it (its safe).

that group policy thing did nothing. i got that last update out. no way to stop any new buggy updates. i miss win 7, i don't know why they don't give us the choice to choose what we want to install.

Mike, you do have the option to uninstall updates. I have done it! Look at your history and then click on an update and click uninstall
