Help With Re-sorting Images.

I've asked this before, but cannot find the thread.

I want to re-sort (renumber) the images.

The only way I can see to do it is manually go thru thousands of images looking for a specific image to change the (number) order on.

I'm wondering if anybody has found a shortcut, work-around, whatever... other than manually looking thru images page after page.

Hope that made sense.

I don't know of any way of changing the order besides the manner you describe Dan.

I'm interested in learning the answer to this question too.

Click on the image, in the upper right corner click on pencil, menu will drop down, you choose where you want it numerically

Betsy,

Thanks but doesn't work for me. I clicked an image. No pencil in upper right corner. I clicked to Edit the image. Still no pencil.

I am on FAA. Are things different on Pixels?

Using the pencil icon to edit the order of images you can only do one at a time and you have to page through to find the image first.

Dan,
I just checked, the pencil Icon is on both Pixels and Fine Art America

Laura,

Thank you. I see the problem. My fault. I did not clearly explain in the OP. I already know how to change the number order of an image.

What I am asking about is a way to find the image in the first place. It might be on page 1, it might be on page 27. And that is what you answered. Apparently there is no way to find a specific image unless you plod thru the pages one by one until you find it.

I was hoping somebody found a shortcut or workaround to find a specific image without going thru pages one by one.

Dan, unfortunately since the way we search through images was changed, there is no way that I'm aware of other than the way you described.

Previously you could search the images and you stayed on the image tab. And the option to change the numbering was right there on the search results page. Now that the search function goes to the "shop" tab on your profile, that option is no longer there.

I got most of mine in the order I wanted them before that change was made but I am slow to move new additions around because it's kind of a pain.

Dan,

I feel for you I've been battling this issue for years.

There is a way to save a LITTLE time, but not much. But it helps.

You have to do it in a browser.

If you know the title of your image, you can open the browser Find feature and enter the first two words (or so) of the title into find.
You go to each page and click to find next. If you get a hit, you can change the number of the order.
If no hit, you go to the next page and do it again.
It does not save much time, but at least you do not need to visually look at each image.

And yes, Thomas, it's a pain. I do not expect a massive programming change like drag and drop order changing,
but it would be nice if when you go to the image edit page you could change the number order there.
It seems like that would be an easy change.

This won't help you much Dan but it's a thread I started 3 months ago and because of little interest by others or interaction it was closed for inactivity...

I'm including it because possibly, the more support shown for an issue, maybe the more chance it will be taken seriously enough to improve, change, or fix the problem. Plus ++++ it let's you know you're not alone.

I think the only way to do it without loosing your marbles is to work within individual collections: Go to your profile page > Collections > Edit > change image position.
When you are inside "Edit Image Collection" you can also use the "Images NOT in collection" in conjunction with the search to add in (and then change the position of) additional images.

Dan,

What I've done and might not be what you're asking for, is to find an image, search a keyword, hopefully, something specific to the image you're looking for and then move it. I had "lost" an image but then remembered a keyword and found it, after a few tries.....

Rich

p.s I save ALL my keywording files/folders and that helps...

This drives me crazy. We used to have the feature where when we scrolled through our images (not the tumbnails, the actual images), it would say for example "Image number 250 of 3000". That was a GREAT help to finding stuff so you can shuffle things around. At least you could get close to where you wanted to go. I have put that in the suggestion thread a few times to get that feature back, but I guess we're not getting it back. In other words you could search for the image you want, then click on it when it came up with the keyword you used to search and automatically know where it's located numerically in your portfolio. Doesn't work like that any more.

Thanks for the ideas, gang. I'll try them. Western, yours sound promising. I'll try it later

@Western
"...the only way to do it without loosing your marbles ..."

LOL. I did 2 (two!) and lost mine. I made a major mistake. I uploaded a bunch of stuff and let it go to the first page. Now I have to hunt down 50 to do the first page. 2 down, only 48 to go. Joy, joy!

Western,

Thanks for the post, but nope.... not what I want. In collections the order you set is for images in the collection.

I'm trying to reorder the first few pages when displaying / clicking Images.
