Doing Faa Business On A Phone

Does anyone use their cell phone to update, change and upload photos using their cell phone? Is there something different I need to do if I use my cell phone to upload pictures?

I do sometimes. Nothing different.

However, you can only upload jpgs or png files here.

In the latest phone update, it was suddenly decided by the phone company to default to saving pictures as HEIC files that saved space instead of jpgs.

In an iPhone you can change this in camera settings. Under format choose COMPATIBLE (NOT High efficiency) then future images will be saved as jpg.

Interesting. I do have a couple of iPhone images for sale here at FAA. I am considering an upgrade from my iPhone 6 to the new 11 (but not the one with three lenses). There are many time I am somewhere without my "big" camera and that perfect photo op presents itself. Here is my latest example (link, not actual image): https://bill.pixels.com/featured/twice-the-lady-bill-swartwout-photography.html

I think the "11" might have done a bit better with that capture - from 900 feet over the Statue of Liberty.

I am sure there are plenty of people doing it.

The question I have is why would one what to limit themselves to what can be done on a phone vs full-blown camera with all the horns and whistles and then use a full-blown computer for all of the power of the editing software that is available?

I have the 11 and the camera is really good and I have sold photos taken with it and older models of iPhone. But all of them have had post work done on my computer. None straight to FAA.

Floyd, it is reassuring to hear that you judge the 11's camera to be really good. I also agree about doing a bit of post in the computer before uploading.

Thanks Abbie! I want to use my desktop computer for everything, except uploading pictures to FAA.

I am trying to save money, and if I can get rid of my Satellite internet and use my phone just to upload it would help me a lot. But I am going to have to see if AT&T converts them automatically.
