- mowing my lawn (really did because it´s MINE :o) )
- having a BBQ and some beer to end a great day
- realizing that i live in the house where i grew up always gives me a huge smile - every single day
- coming here and meet all these nice people and read wonderful comments gives me smiles, too.

Your breath of fresh air topic, for one, Abbie.

The other -- a visit from a friend bringing us bounty from his vegetable garden -- beets, corn, cucumbers, & garlic. We had a lovely visit, and some scrumptious meals :)

How 'bout you, Abbie?

I went to visit my mother today. She is in her mid eighties. I have been watching this once brilliant, talented and gorgeous woman get more and more frail in both body and mind for the last few years. Today I took her shopping and for lunch. As we were enjoying our roast beef sandwich and talking she smiled, looking at me in that motherly loving way and I see that sharpness and twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes that I have missed for quite a while. It was so good to see mama behind the cloud that has been there for what seems so long. That was a golden moment for me. ♥

Some fabulous reasons for smiling!! I am so happy you have smiled x

I walked in the woods I love so much and hugged a tree. Not much to some, too much to others, but when you live with the nightmare I am living with right now, this is absolute sunshine for me.

Also I am giving away my art on my Facebook page in mini contests.... It really makes me smile knowing that it is actually going to people who want it now rather than sitting in my living room :-)

Finally, seeing you all have something to smile about :-) That is always worth the most!

Learning first thing this morning of two sales, then seeing one of the images featured this afternoon.
Helping a friend by photographing things she and her husband (downsizing) are sending to auction, and knowing that they're thrilled with the pictures.

A friend's oddly constructed sentence on FB that led me to ask, "Service dogs use crayons?" (She's a teacher asking for crayons for a project.) We both laughed ourselves silly.
Having someone tell me I'm doing a great job in an area totally unrelated to photography. I volunteered when a mutual friend passed away.

The smell of something baking in my home. I recently got back to baking, and now I have a group of friend to bake for on a regular basis. That makes me happy.
Knowing that I'm living with something rare, like multiple myeloma, but my numbers "are really great." I don't have to return for another blood test for a whole year, then we'll go to two years, I'm told. Happy that my home is cool when so many people are suffering in the heat.

Thrilled that I could easily come up with a hundred things to be happy about, such as bedtime after a busy, productive day. Before it ends, I'm going to try the chocolate pudding cake that just came out of the oven. It should be cool enough by now. I found a recipe that replicates what my mother used to make.
And now there's a comfy bed waiting for me, and no alarm to answer to anymore.

Here is my second reason for smiling today. One of the Galley owners I show my work at called this afternoon to tell me he was sending a young art collector to my studio, she was looking for a sea turtle painting. When she arrived she came with her mom and dad and little sister. This young lady was only 9 Years old. I showed her three or four paintings then pulled out my favorite sea turtle painting to show her. Her eyes lit up, that was the one she wanted. She told me this was her very first piece of art she was buying. I was so touched that she chose my painting to be her first I gave her a $50 discount.

Her mom told me they were at another gallery the night before. Her daughter saw a sea turtle painting she really liked and she asked how much it was. The gallery person told her if she had to ask the price, she couldn’t afford it, and that she should have her mommy and daddy buy it for her. That was the wrong thing to say, he lost a sale.

I shook her hand and told her how honored I was that she chose my favorite sea turtle painting to be her first piece of art. Her mom took pictures.

I’m still smiling 6 hours later.

Sometimes i have to remeber to smile more, smile because i woke up and it is new day, new things to do, new things to experiance, new people to talk to, smile for being gratefull that i have food on my tabel, i have my bad for sleep, i have my mother and sister and my lovely dogs, smile because im healty, with my healty eyes, arma and legs to walk and to creare and express my self. Smile because we can experiance life and to see beauty in the night and in the day. You can even smile at your on reflection in the mirror and start prodactive day. Sometimes you just have to smile even when life is hard. I hope you all have a big smile today and have a nice day.

Abbie I am glad that you have woods to walk & love with trees to hug. I'm with you on that.

My dog gives me smiles many times a day. We hike with a friend & her dog along creeks flowing with fresh water from underground springs. These creeks feed the trees that provide us shade in the intense Texas heat.

The sun is coming out after a night of rain. Perfect. Smile.

I'm feeling better after a couple of days of being under the weather. Smile.

The ravens are "chatting" in the huge trees outside my window. I can hear the young herons in their nests close by making the most ungodly sounds, how I imagine pterodactyls sounded. Smile.

I found someone to hire to help me make earrings for my online jewelry store and will train her this week. I really need the help and she could use the cash. Double smile.

I have one dog and one cat art commission to work on today. Big smile.

I just had to sit down. The happy dance I was doing totally wore me out.

This is going to sound so trivial, but what can I say. Simple pleasures for simple minds.

I just got new contact lenses. I've got astigmatism in one of my eyes and have been using lenses for ever that didn't correct for it. That's just the way it was until recently-ish, or so I understood. In fact, got driver's license renewed a few months back and I had to stop and say a little prayer I could get through the eye test okay (I did).

Went to the eye-jockey yesterday, had a great check up (no macular degeneration which is a big deal in my mom's side of the family), cataracts not worse (as in not bad and live-with-able), pressure is fine, eye allergies under control, and no sign of any new new lurking posterior vitreous detachments ... and ... bam ... she gave me a box of trial lenses that adjust for astigmatism.

Tried 'em out this morning and WHEEEEE!!!! I can SEEEEEE!!!!! Really well for the first time in I don't know how long!!!!!

I am a very happy camper!!!!!!!

I discovered that my blooming Gazania was inundated with spiky dark caterpillars. I began drastic action, pulling them off and squishing them. After a while, I grew weary of this gross activity and came in to consult the google as to which caterpillars would be eating a gazania. Oh, no! Painted Ladies! I went back out and issued a profuse apology. The remaining caterpillars are all smiling now!

Yesterday an adolescent bear cub galumphed across the road about 50 yards in front of me. I stopped (as did another car that was approaching from the opposite direction) and watched him whisk up a tree, then look back in our direction. The other driver and I left, so that mama bear could cross the road without onlookers. The bears always make me smile.

And my dog is very silly and always makes me smile :-)

Realizing that a photo and its description can be used to speak peace to a mother's heart who lost her daughter to cancer. That brought a smile and some tears.

I woke up this morning! The sun is out, and after breakfast, went out to see butterflies all over our butterfly bushes and lantana!!! Going down to the lake, with my camera, later, as being near water is such a joy for me. A strong breeze blew some of our first fall leaves down from our trees in our woods ( I hug trees too) that have started to turn color already. Our deer came though and ate the fruit we left out for them. The cardinal family that had their chicks have now fledged and they are fun to watch their play on our deck and feeders. I am on here and found this thread. It is a blessing to read about such smiling moments and it has lifted my spirit to know so many are finding things to smile about today.

Have a great day, everyone. Each day is a gift. :-))

Lois, that's the best news! Smiling because I'm happy for you.

Early in my day, I checked my FB page where I nearly always find something from a friend that puts a smile on my face. One post I had shared the other day to my own page, so this message in bold white on orange greeted me:

"I'm really starting to get tired of not being a millionaire." Maybe I laugh too easily, but that one always get to me. That one and this: "Using your turn signal is not giving information to the enemy."

Edward, I've been to the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, but I had no idea they had ties to Montana. Love learning from others here.

View from the top of the M trail outside of Bozo.

....

Connie - I've been to the Sarasota museum a few times. John Ringling bought up a bunch of land in Montana and built a railroad. He also owned a summer home & spa in White Sulphur Springs, and considerable ranch land in the area.

The White Sulphur Springs and Yellowstone Park Railway (reporting mark WSYP), now defunct, was an American railroad built and operated between the towns of Ringling and White Sulphur Springs, Montana, a distance of 22.8 miles.

The town of Ringling was a stop on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad ("the Milwaukee Road").

Today it has a Post Office, a little store and not much else.

Waited two hours to see an amazing geyser go off. Had a cocktail at the Old Faithful Lodge. Saw a grizzly bear walking along the road. Had a great rainbow trout dinner.

Then checked my sales before bed and found someone bought 27 prints of the same image.

I laughed out loud at myself this morning. I took a shower, then instead of grabbing a towel to wipe the steam off the mirror, I tried to turn the light on (which was already on, of course), so I could see myself better in the mirror. That didn't work but I thought it was pretty funny.....Ok, I guess you had to be there LOL.
