Surrounded by a faint hexagonal shadow, wispy fibers of sandy earth form a glowing six-point star on a dry desert drainage, the points leading inward to a simple bright sand flower.

From a photograph of ripples of sand lit by the morning sun on the bank of the Rio Grande in Bernalillo, New Mexico.

Southern Landscape Art Print from an Original Watercolor Painting. A red & white bull with long horns soaks up the sunshine in a field of grasses & bluebonnet wildflowers.
The Texas Longhorn is a breed of cattle known for their exceptionally long horns. The most common fur color is dark burnt orange & white. Such is the color of "Bevo", the live steer mascot of the UT Austin.

In the Spring, the Texas Hill Country blooms with an array of wildflowers. Bluebonnets are predominantly found in southwestern United States and is the state flower of Texas.

Kokopelli plays his flute amid a spectacular Arizona sunrise as the first sunlight of the day pours down into the Santa Cruz River Valley at the base of the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson. The orb of the sun is just peeking up over the Josephine Saddle above Madera Canyon between Mount Wrightson and Mount Hopkins as Elephant Head Butte to the right gits a glint of this dawn light.

This was a fun abstract to paint earlier this month, using two of my favorite colors.

Kokpelli stands amid the southwest desert landscape of Monument Valley National Monument on the Utah and Arizona border. The Milky Way galaxy and a night sky full of stars, a shooting star and bird serve as a magical, heavenly and divine backdrop within the Colorado Plateau as a quiet dirt road snakes through the valley. These particular buttes resemble mittens and are aptly named the Mittens.

 

The Three Blind Mites have gone from navel-gazing to screen-gazing -- never noticing what's happening to them physically.

Flow abstraction

On a beautiful summer day populated by little white puffy clouds, a Longnose Cinnamon Sniffy Bear stops briefly under an unusual tree to get a sweet whiff of one of a number of pretty flowers growing diversely among themselves.

I have painted an abstract watercolor on paper, summoning the viewer to explore the deeper recesses of the mysterious. A contemplation of the cosmos and universe, it is a work exploring form, lines, patterns, and the interplay of colors.

As with all things in the universe, there are patterns and shapes, but none of them are perfectly symmetrical. Each form has its own identity. The glowing gold is the highlight of the piece but cannot stand out without the deep crimson and blue of the backdrop. Other pours and splatters are random, giving second thought to those thinking everything in the world makes sense.
