Three new images from Norway: the quaint red Flakstad Kirke, and the stone and wooden fences that are in back of the church. These are picturesque winter images, with lots of snow - it was cold that day!

he common whitetail or long-tailed skimmer is a common dragonfly across much of North America, with a striking and unusual appearance. The male's chunky white body, combined with the brownish-black bands on its otherwise translucent wings, give it a checkered look.

A receding glacier on the east side of Glacier Bay in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska, USA. It's interesting that the receding glaciers are located on this side, directly across Glacier Bay from glaciers that are advancing. Sometimes advancing and receding glaciers are located right next to each other! The difference: They are part of different mountain ranges and, as I understand it, have different geological forces working on them. At first glance, it looks like an illustration of what some would call "global warming," but no one on our tour was convinced by the visual and historical evidence. In fact one can find pictures and measurements of glaciers going back to at least the 1800s, documenting that the same glacier has advanced a few feet then declined at a slightly different rate. And the glacier next door has done just the opposite. Many geological forces are at work, so I urge people to do their own independent research of this fascinating topic.

I captured the water and grassy peninsula at Fort Smallwood Park, overlooking the Patapsco River. During processing I added two Great Blue herons I had photographed previously to add more to the composition. Then I tied it all together with a glow filter effect.

The Blue Crab is of significant culinary and economic importance in the United States, particularly in Louisiana, North Carolina, the Chesapeake Bay, Delaware, and New Jersey. It is the Maryland state crustacean, and is that state's largest commercial fishery.

This is a new artwork from our In The Garden series, a very attractive colorful blooming flowers Clarkia Amoena in all shades of pink, fuchsia, red and purple, from light to very dark. The flowers look like they have been painted in bright colors. Enjoy!
