A trip to Dublin required a brief visit to St. Patrick's, the National Cathedral of Ireland. Built in the early 13th century, the faithful have worshipped here for over 800 years. On a cloudy and rainy day, scenes inside were much more colorful and appealing. The first Knight was installed on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, 1783. Each Knight would give his banner, a symbolic helmet and sword, to the Cathedral. They were placed above his seat in the choir, where they still remain today, for all to see and to honor the ... Knights Of St. Patrick's.

Our 49th state and the one that is still called " The Last Frontier " has some very rugged and mountainous terrain. With very few roads, many people who live there year round own small airplanes and fly from one city to another, or from one lake to another. Even travel by train is limited because of the terrain and winter snowfall. This older train engine on display in the small town of Skagway was equipped with a huge rotating device to scrape, break up and remove snow piles from the tracks going up through the infamous White Pass. This is where I saw my very first ... Alaska Snow Train.
