Missing Images

I had a lot of images in my "Contest Awards Collection." Today it shows no images at all. The rest of my Collections are okay. I haven't looked at the Awards Collection in ages so I doubt I did anything to delete them. But they are all missing. Can the site techs find them and put them back please?

Mary, this is happening to some people and you have to add the images back yourself.

This was quite a while ago we had some issues. People are just noticing the images had gone. It is quite quick to just add them back thankfully

I just posted a separate complaint about missing images in one of my collections, but my post has not shown up. Now I went to check all my galleries. There are problems.

Contest Awards is missing all the images. There were many.

Elvis Presley and the Coco Palms is missing all the images. There were may

I just went in to change the collection icon for Edible Delights. When I clicked to Update, this collection LOST ALL ITS IMAGES.

Can someone please correct what is wrong and restore my collections. I am afraid if I work in any other collection, I am going to lose all those images as well.

I waited nearly 20 minutes and got frustrated so added to this thread. I hope I can get help.

I had this happen to me a few months ago but since I add the collection name to the keywords before I upload it was pretty easy for me to do an image search and re-add the images to the collection since they weren't deleted from the site. Sorry to hear you are having the same issue and I won't be messing with existing collections for a bit. ;)

Cheers

Abbie said not to work in Collections until this is resolved... but that was a couple of weeks ago.

A few members have had this problem, on and off, as I've learned reading posts the past few weeks. I saw that she told people to add the images back in, as they are still in our IMAGES directory.

I have no idea what's going on though... no one does.

Mary, Abbie told us to have only one window / tab open while editing or adding images / collections to prevent this from happening. Hope that helps in the future.

It's happened to people with only one window/tab open too. It's also happened to people that only spent a few seconds in the collection making changes.

Cheers

I know 1st hand because i was among the lucky few but that´s what we were told. I´ve said more than once what i think about such a bug on a pod site of this magnitude so i won´t say it again.

I noticed one painting missing today when checking my collections. I found it doing a search, opened it, did a small edit and submitted. The painting then returned to the collection.

This shouldn't be happening. Bugs should be fixed right away. I haven't been to my account much, I am too busy writing my new book. Haven't kept up with Abbie's messages. I thought I'd upload a few pictures here to keep my account from becoming totally dead. So if I entered only one Collection and lost all the images, that could happen again and again. I guess I won't be adding or changing anything till we hear the problems are fixed.

Is everybody's account on hold now?

I never thought about adding the Collection name to the keywords. I might be able to add back a few but not all. But again, this is not our problem. FAA should be able to go back into their files and restore our collections/pages the way they were. As big as Amazon is, they can do that when book pages get scrambled.

Also, if this problem is over two weeks old with nothing done, what about the fact that the Delete button has been malfunctioning for a month, plus or minus, and nothing's been done about that?

If there is a bug in the system, they must be working on it, but it seems these problems should have been cleared up a lon time ago.

No one's account is on hold. Everyone can upload images... I just wouldn't add to Collections myself. I'm not uploading until July because I'm moving and have too much to do for that.

There are a few major ongoing problems, and there have been for the past few months. Abbie reports them, but she cannot physically fix them. Sean and his team have to do the fixing. Things get fixed seemingly for some... but it's intermittent, and not everyone is affected all the time. I would think the nature of this problem makes it difficult to pinpoint what is happening, since it's not everyone's account, and not all the time.

'It should be fixed right away'... of course! Everything should be in working order all the time... in a perfect world :) But with a huge website, that is never the case. And nothing we say will speed up the coders fixing this, or any problem.

(For what it's worth, something happened around the beginning of May, regarding the 'missing images' issue. But that's all I know about it.)

We have some major concerns about images missing from members galleries going on in one of my groups. Seems that the number of images on the Home page does not match the count when checked. 20 plus images missing in most cases. Most of the images missing seem to have come from new uploads in May and June.

I did my count yesterday and found nothing wrong.

This is concerning.

I'm not quite sure that numbers are right around here. Yesterday I culled one of my groups from inactive members. I was limiting myself to a nice round figure of 15,000. Was just about there and then all of a sudden 300 were added to the total! I had several members complain about missing commentary in one of the discussions last week. Actually, I had one rather long post disappear in front of my eyes as I was writing a reply to it's questions.

I am most disturbed to see this link this morning and to learn that the loss of images has been going on for several months. There should have been some general notice sent out to warn us about this issue so we could take measures to prevent/correct it. I have almost 30 images missing; but how do I determine which images they are that are missing? I don't keep a log of images that I have uploaded to the site. I rely on the site to have daily backups and if there are issues that occur, use those backups to restore the site to its pre-issue status. I am most upset to learn now that I probably lost images several months ago. Since I don't know which images they are or when they were lost, it makes it difficult to impossible for me to find them and restore them to the site. Are they lost entirely, or are they just mssing from some collections but are still in my portfolio.

Abby - please tell us what is happening so we can take measures to rebuild our portfolios.

I just randomly discovered an image missing when I went to enter it in a contest. I remember its title and everything but it just isn't there anymore. It was there a few months ago.

Abbie Shores

I have no idea what's happening, I'm sorry.

Peggy Collins

Just thought I'd mention it, Abbie. I don't know how people actually end up discovering that images are missing and I'm not hugely concerned with it (afterall, I have another image of a three-horned chameleon in my gallery, ha ha!) but if it were an image that has sold a lot previously or had a lot of comments, etc., that would obviously be of more concern.

Mary Deal

Has this issue been resolved?

Someone said to simply upload the images again. Do you honestly know how much work is involved? No, we don't have to upload from scratch. We just go to our images and find the missing ones and click which Collection they should go into.

If you have more than a handful of images, do you know how tedious it is to look for images among all I have on this site. And I don't have near as many as most people. I just spent half an hour looking for one missing image and can't find it. And I have three collections that were completely wiped clean!!!

There should be a way to search within OUR OWN images to find what we want.

HAS THIS PROBLEM BEEN RESOLVED? I don't want to start working in Collections and lost everything AGAIN.

Don Northup

There should be a way to search within OUR OWN images to find what we want.

You can search within your own images on your AW. The search features to find images that are not in a collection are fairly useful as well.

Cheers

A couple of days ago I went to add an image to a contest and discovered it was missing. I had to add it back. I haven't touched any of my collections.

Abbie Shores

Of course you can search among your own images here on FAA

Go to your images page and click on the magnifying glass.

Search as normal for keywords or change to title

Jessica Jenney

Mary, go to your gallery, edit and then you will see 'images not in gallery'. Put in your best keyword (award) and those pictures will come up. It's faster this way.

Mary Deal

Thank you, everyone, for the tips. Abbie, I had tried your way a couple weeks ago and got everyone else's images as well. Jessica, I should have known to do this. I think I had used this capability a long time ago and forgotten. I am not having much luck selling my art here no matter how much I advertise. I have forgotten a lot about how to use the site.

I am hoping that the number of items it shows in those Collections will change so that people will know there are images behind the top picture.

Thanks again, Everyone.

Mary, under your AWARDS Collection, it says EDIT. Click on EDIT. Then you will see a tab that says: "Images NOT in Collection" Click on that tab. put in your keyword "awards"

Every image with that keyword will come up and then you can ADD to that collection.

Or you can just delete that gallery altogether,. Most people don't care which images have won awards. And then what does that say about all your other images?

Mary Deal

Yes, Abbie, I understand. That's the mistake I made some time ago.

Jessica, before my last response above, I did those instructions you gave. I found all the missing images. I followed through and then clicked to put them into the Collections. NOW I go back and check. They are still NOT there.

I'm going to do this one more time.

Mary Deal

I just did each of the THREE Collections again. I found all of the missing images. I went through the process. Still, none of the missing images show up.

Jessica Jenney

Mary, did you click on SUBMIT? At the top!

Mary Deal

Oh good grief! I went through the process and when I clicked to include, big bold green letters said the images had been added to the collection. No Jessica, I did not click on Submit at that time.

It worked this time. I was even able to go in and change the top showing image without the rest of the images disappearing.

I have been away from the site for too long. Forgetting too many things.

Thank you all. Thank you, Jessica. I'm grateful for a place to turn for help. I will close this Discussion.
