David - interesting, tks for posting.
Floyd - not a bad idea - Picasso, but the Pompidou is more modern than that.
The other cited cases arose naturally, to some extent, and this effort just seems artificial and might backfire. They should focus on their own image rather than an artwork. Not sure if they have any permanent galleries (I thought not) but bad idea, imo. Contrived and defeats its original purpose of showcasing / pioneering new art by tying itself to a past work, no matter how good. (or crap; obvious reference here)
As with politics, I'd say 'none of the above'. [can i say that ?]
Enjoyed going there. Loved Paris as a whole but times have changed over the last 30 years - might not ever go back, which is a bit sad; the city - Montmartre etc, was an influence to me.

Edit : Pablo Picasso died in 1973 ()not long before the center opened I think) - more recently than i thought. But he was Spanish, so it's unlikely.
Like this well known quote though : "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child."
All about learning from the best, then finding yourself.
I like what Lao Tsu said :
"When one let's go of who one is, one can become who they were meant to be."
(let go all accumulated nonsense and re-be an open eye, w/o filters / preconceptions - to see what is, and not what one believes to be there).
In short, the center needs to stand tall by itself and not lean / prop on any other.
Suspect though that, given that it is noted for prominent pipework, it might just flush itself down the pan ...Maybe the urinal was just a literal piss-take * [can I say that ?] Clever, but a stop sign, not a green light.
Would be a monumental folly - in both senses.
[* might be a uk-centric idiom]
