Watching Trains Is For The Birds

So there are live cameras at different places around the country where you can see trains passing by. This happened at one of the cameras in Kansas City yesterday. I thought you may enjoy it.

There are live channels on YouTube from time to time. Not the same as live in person.

there is something about seeing it in person, feeling the ground shake and so on that makes it more interesting. its like people watching on google street maps. its not really the same.

I had the opportunity last month traveling from Tucson back to Phoenix. Just around sunset, got to watch a few trains.

They ran about every 15 minutes or so. Rather cool.

Even met a guy from Florida who also stopped to photograph the trains.

you might get a kick out of this one, caught a single engine going across the river while i was scouting the riverbed years ago. Glad i had the camera ready to catch it.

Oh go on...share your images!

Haha, Joseph -- that bird looks a little windblown and lonely.

As they say in Texas: Bless his heart! :-)

All right, Abbie.
There is a crossing in South Baltimore (Maryland, USA) that is fairly busy. One can get up close and personal without being unsafe. In these photographs I was standing against a building well behind the crossing gate. These are both of the same engine, CSX 5292, a General Electric "Evolution Series" model that began production in 2005.
