Sorry I'm a day late with this, I had major Internet issues yesterday.
Welcome to our weekly "Tell Us, Show Us" thread! Each Wednesday I will pick a topic and you are free to post images or just post a reply to the OP as it relates to your own personal being. The following Wednesday I will end the previous week's thread and start anew with a different topic.
This week's topic is:
What makes you really happy?
Tell us about something that makes you really happy and why. Peanut butter? Your spouse? Selling something on FAA? Sleeping in on the weekend? The fact that Daria is about to be rebooted?? Don't forget about the "why," it's more the purpose of this thread than showing us your images. And though I know these things make some people happy, please do not post about religion or politics (duh).

Snow! I am just bonkers for snow. I love the way it looks, I love the way it makes you feel all cozy when you're inside watching it fall, I love the way it makes the air smell, and I love the way it sounds. It actually pains me that many people go through life without ever once experiencing snow.

Oooh, that's a good one Nancy! I'm with you, color rocks :)
Have you ever watched any of the Youtube videos showing colorblind peeps trying on those new EnChroma glasses that allow them to see color for the first time in their lives? I don't think I've made it through a single one without crying. Course, most of them don't either =)
Edit: I found a good compilation video. Be forewarned there is a lot of astounded happy cursing going on: YouTube

The one thing that really makes me happy is something i cannot and will not show on the internet - it´s my house (inherited from my parents) and my garden. As to the "why" - because i was raised here and after i lived for 22 yr. on a main road with lots of traffic, no garden, no balcony or terrace, i now have a wonderful quiet place to call my own, a garden and a terrace.
I am H O M E where i know every stone by it´s surename :o) My isle of happiness, my oasis of tranquility, my castle - my little paradise :o) I am so grateful for every second i am allowed to live here :o)

I love that Hans! I go on Google Earth and take a look at my childhood home on Long Island every once in awhile, wistfully wishing it were mine, so I know how you feel. You are a lucky guy!

I have a myriad of things
Walking in the woods barefoot with just Mr Darcy (I love going wit Miss Hannah also but she is a brat and causes all sorts of mischief, whilst he just ambles beside me and curls up at my feet if I find a tree trunk fallen to sit on)
Being in a boat, just reading. Doesn't have to be moving... Just the swell relaxes me beyond belief
or face to face combat.

Going to the beach on a Tuesday morning with family. Sitting there in webbed chair with my toes in the sand. The surf. The seaweed. The umbrella. Tuna on a roll at noon from a cooler. Small bottles of water iced. The sun high over head. A haze out on the horizon. Time sliding very slowly away. Kids in the waves. Little toddlers crying to their mothers. Sand castles.

Not art, not décor, not any greed or bragging...simply helping someone like my mom or a friend who needs me. I get joy from helping someone who needs my effort...and sometimes, that is art.
Susan, I love the art you displayed in the opening of this thread, it reminds me of the 18 years of ballet which I found so therapeutic, yet no one around me found it therapeutic! LOL
Also, I don't post because I want you to feel guilty as the overly needy or those who prey upon my "talent to give" piss me off and I'm very discriminating over who is needy and who is NOT.

The idea that loose forms could make an image, particular of a flower. That workings was gratefully taken as a lesson from some of Lisa's videos on her productions.
This was one of the results. I found a great deal of satisfaction in making this.

Thank you, so much David, you are producing a jazzy top shelf image in the digital art world. This work is amazing and thank you for giving me some credit in your most beautiful and exquisite art.

Thank you Lisa! There is unfortunately a time ballet stops being therapeutic and starts becoming masochism.
Ed, that photo is awesome and David, that instantly became my fave of your work.
I love these threads =)

Lots of things make me happy, as do some people.
But, what makes me most happy -- is music. Not just any music, but music of my choice. The wide variety of stuff that infiltrates my heart, mind, and soul, and can lift me above even the worst day or situation.
I would choose keeping my hearing over all other senses; I can't even imagine the misery of suddenly living music-free.
Music can provide the colors of art, the emotion of words, the satisfaction of comfort food, the serenity of an ocean view. Bliss!
@Susan -- What you wrote about snow, above, is how I feel about rain . . . which is also music to my ears!

Wendy, I'm the same way about rain too, I just decided to go for the less common option, LOL! I will take a rainy day over a sunny one anytime.

Artists responding to your comments doesn't make you happy JL, despite the fact that you care if you get one?

I'm happy when our family all gets together for a barbecue or holiday diner. Everything else in life is not so important.

I love everybody. Sometimes it is harder than other times, but I do. (Of course, I don't love all behaviours, but a person is more than that.)
I also love comments on my art because I get so few.

There are many things that make me happy, but my pets are definitely toward the top of the list. And, for this post I'll mention my fish. I get a lot of joy from caring for the fish, creating their environment, keeping them healthy, and watching them grow and flourish. And, of course it is relaxing to watch them swim. I personally enjoy goldfish for their goofy personalities and long life spans.

I find myself a few times a week at the clubhouse bar where I live. I have made a few friends, join a few friends I have known over the years, and kid with the bartenders.
Basically there are moments as an ex drinker when I live vicariously through the buzz at the bar.
To happiness bottoms up!!

I'm grateful for my inner happiness first because things do not provide happiness for me. I am grateful and happy for waking up for another day and for all the wonderful family, and friends in my life. I practice daily positive affirmations and find I am happy about so much more than I can list here. Whenever I have a negative thought, I replace it with a positive to maintain my inner happiness.

I too prefer to be happy than not so live my life with that in mind. This weekend it will make me happy to get my house in order...guess I better shutdown the computer now so that has a chance of happening.

Chocolate.
All my life. It's always been chocolate. There's a Magnum ice cream bar ... double chocolate. Let me have one of those babies once a week or every other week and I'm a happy little camper.
There are things in my genetics that could knock me dead tomorrow, so I'm trying very hard to circumvent an early(ish?) demise. That means I've been doing LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) for about a year and a half now and wowzer on the lab-report numbers. (Btw, it's like Keto, but less strict daily-carb-gram wise.) I'm doing Great. But that's not to say The Dark One won't strike me daid in da haid tomorrow. But I am doing what I can to postpone the inevitable.
But. And here's the good part. My doctor said I HAVE to cheat now and then. And when I do it's either that Magnum ice cream bar or a piece of ...
which actually takes me a couple of days to finish, lol ...

Enjoy all types of vacationing and traveling, by sea, land or air.
Day trips on old trains, visiting zoos, holidays in foreign countries and cruises.
Visiting and talking to other artists and historians that work in many different types of museums.
Visiting churches discovering their history, looking at frescoes, statues and stain glass windows.
Visiting castles, especially when there are medieval activities happening such as jousting, sword fighting and people wearing costumes of the era.
Visiting known landmarks around the world.
Visiting locations that famous people once lived and coincidently meeting living celebrities.
