I was fortunate - joined on March 24th, 2017 and had my 1st sale on 04/05/2017

I joined March 2013 and on July 2013 I sold a pack of 10 cards. Actually I had a sale before that but it was returned so it's not counted.
Good luck!

Took me about 8 months. I joined in late 2010 and had my first sale August 2011.

You´re perfectly welcome (welcome to FAA btw). Don´t be frustrated if it takes longer - someone here (very wisely) said "it´s a marathon, not a sprint" :o)

Hi Vera,

Welcome to FAA.

I joined in December 2015 and had my first sale during the month I joined.

Best regards,

Laurie

Not long at all but it felt like a fluke. All sales since feel random too, and all but one are head-scratchers. There's no accounting for taste!

Three or four months...

Joined May 25th, 2011 and made my first sale on July 26, 2011.

Sales steadily increased but lately slowed (through here that is)...still worth the $30.00 U.S.

What Hans said "it´s a marathon, not a sprint" is a good thing to keep in mind so you don't get discouraged.

It took me 17 months for my first sale.

Looking at how long it took people to make a sale doesn't really tell you much since the circumstances are all different. Some have come here and uploaded hundreds if not thousands of images, some have come here with a big following, some are very good at marketing and advertising, etc.

If I were to start over I would say the first thing to do is enjoy the ride.

You are a photographer so get out there and photograph. Upload your very best, make sure you check them at 100% for quality and take the time to do good descriptions and key wording, don't spam or copy from wiki. Set up your SM accounts and use them well. Get some business cards made and actually hand them out. Start shooting collections of things so you can set up collections. Search the discussions for information on how to do all these things, the amount of information here is astounding.

Most importantly have fun with what you do.

There is nothing wrong with your work. How long has nothing to do with it.

I started selling the first week I got here and have been selling daily, on average, for 65 straight weeks.

Two things that are more important then time are how many people see your work and how much work you have to see.

Read the article I wrote that explains this.

it took me 2 weeks, i had 1200 things. it takes time. if your brand new or you lack focus in the art, then it will be harder to sell. you have to advertise

these aren't critiques, these are just things to look at.

Photography Prints
you don't want to sign your work that large, they may not print it that large. it looks like a watermark. you need real keywords. no one will find that by typing poster. you want to describe in detail what we are looking at. not just that you shot it on a vacation.

Photography Prints
make sure your work is in focus. that should be the very least of the things you send here. again keywords - don't even have the word door on it. a buyer would pass over something blurry. if they think they can take it, they probably wouldn't buy it.

you want to organize your store so you have categories and not a mash of random images. everything should have a theme. as your collection grows, in general, people won't want to look at a pile of images. they want easy navigation. i would reword the bio and don't outline that your a beginner.

it can take months or years to get a first sale if your brand new. but for now you need better more active keywords, most of those are filters and would be removed from the main search on this site. better descriptions are needed because google needs those. only post work that you would buy for yourself and hang on your own wall or give it as a gift.

Dear All,

Thank you for all your replies and tips. Mike Savad, Floyd, Val Arie, Michel, Laurie really appreciate your feedback guidance.I am just an amateur, who likes to take pictures. I will organise them in themes and will write a better description.

and keywords. the clarity is important - they may not print it if its very blurry or large names. that's why i point it out. they will give a note saying you have to fix it, or you would lose the sale.
