Note: This has nothing to do with David Bridburg's threads. Show us how you are using YouTube to market your work and what tips you might have.
Another example:
I use Photoshop or Adobe Spark to create my videos. I find free background music on the web. Also Pixabay has some free video clips.

Thank you for sharing these ideas, Edward. I just started my first one with Spark.

Works well for me Ed, but I am up top of the link.
The original concept was involving people in making videos.....NOT marketing them.
Do we really need a third thread yet? I doubt it.

Making videos to market art one's art on FAA/Pixels is the goal here.
Here is a new one:
Created with Photoshop CC. Open a video clip in PS CC and you'll find the "timeline". It's tricky to figure out and tends to crash a lot. I suggest watching a few YouTube videos to get the hang of it.
You can add clips, still images (1920 x 1080 pixels works best) and add simple special effects like transitions and motion. You can also add audio.
To add text ad a new video layer.
At the end, click on the tiny box in the top right of the "timeline" box and render the video.
Tip: If your computer crashes a lot during this process, close down and start with nothing else running. Also in PS click on "Edit" than "Purge" and "Video Cache" to clean out your memory before getting started.

Here is my first attempt - using the new Spiral Notebooks and one of my local attractions.
BTW - thank you to Edward Fielding for providing the impetus to give this a shot.

I like that train video, Ed. Kind of moody, and a perfect pairing with the music...the drum kind of sounds like a train on the tracks.
Matthias, well done with your two videos! The quirky music fits your first video perfectly. Your Pinterest video should be very good to pique someone's interest. I already bought your course but haven't had time to follow through yet...can you do a video to kick my butt a bit? :-)

Thanks Peggy. I found some site that had a bunch of free music and collected a bunch. I can't recall the site now. It almost has a chug chug sound in that one.
Looks good Bill. Spark has been adding more music lately.
After working on this one in Photoshop for an hour and then having it crash, losing everything. I did a quick version in Adobe Spark

Great videos everyone... I usually don't like the music picked for videos like these but they all have great music!

This is a rather short one, a Fractal in motion:
And yes, Spark is great to quickly create a video. Quite limited (not possible to move text etc.) but fast and intuitive. And free :-) This is another one I created with Spark:

OK - I just made another one promoting the new Spiral Notebooks with the theme of my Fort McHenry photographs.
I have that embedded in a post at http://www.fortmchenry.net/deluxe-spiral-notebooks-feature-fort-mchenry-scenes/ (currently "stickied" to the front page).

Music - Picking the right music is tough. When you use free stuff it can sometimes sound cheesy. YouTube gives you a choice of adding music after upload. You can search by length which is nice but the options are not always great.
You can sort by "ad supported" music which allows you to monetize your clip.
There are also free clips available at various sites.
Here is a list of some sites with free music:

Ed - thank you for starting this and sharing your experiences - this is certainly thought provoking!
I really didn't think much of the new spiral notebooks, but seeing your short videos, Bill, makes me re-think that!
A great thread - and good information to check into - thanks to all of you - Andrea

In Photoshop - adding text or a watermark
You add a new video group and then put the text there. Video groups are like layers of video. You stack them on top of each other.
One annoying thing I've found is that if I have several text blocks and move one to arrange it, it tends to move the other ones. They all get out of whack. So I sometimes end up adding multiple video groups - one for each text block.
Here is another video that shows some cool text effects over time - animating titles etc.

I tried Adobe Spark tonight, usually use MM on windows, but this was quick, had a ton of themes, fonts and pallets with quick change on command, so I loved it for a quick and simple promo. It’s 2:14 total length, so it doesn’t lost the attention span of the viewer. And the app was Free!

Tips:
* You can change the Adobe Spark watermark to your own.
* Consider creating custom thumbnails for your YouTube videos.
* On YouTube you can complete your profile with a logo and subscribe button which will roll in from the bottom right.
* Videos can be pinned just like still images.

Another idea - simply show the product. This one has more views than any of my more produced efforts. People want to see what they are buying -

what music is best for art videos?
at first i was going to match the theme with the music, but that's very hard to do. so i decided for a more upbeat tempo. and while it doesn't match colorizing, i found a few metal songs, and some dubstep that is pleasant enough to listen too. i want them entranced to see the whole thing. and figured i can match the music to the speed at which i'm working is a better idea. but i don't know how many want to listen to metal or dubstep.

Ok, so I went way out of my comfort zone here and got in front of the camera. First time using one of my cameras as a video and I had my settings wrong lol and I didn't have time to re-record. So here it is.

I try to get known a bit. not to make money, so it is not really marketing.
But my approach may be interesting.
I make images for a local hip-hop artist from my neighborhood (quite not-commercial-at-all, just what i listen to. highly impolite lyrics)
He uses them for his videos. Name is Dope Cali Cali.
This way, those who listen to his music see my paintings. They would never have seen them otherwise.
a video about art may not be interesting to many people, but if there is music from someone else with it, the audience increases.
some links. It's in french. about 75% of the words used are not insults and do not refer to drugs, violence or crime.

Having fun in San Diego. Hyperlapse footage from our hotel - Bahia Resort Hotel to Belmont Park and the Mission Beach boardwalk.
Mission Beach is a laid-back neighborhood whose namesake sands attract surfers, sunbathers and volleyball players. A paved path curls around Mission Bay, a popular spot for water sports. Belmont Park is a small amusement park with a wooden roller coaster built in 1925, while SeaWorld San Diego has marine shows and up-close views of orcas and dolphins. Mission Boulevard is lined with casual cafes and eateries.

Greetings Edward and fellow contributors of the discussion, Since the introduction of drones I found the selection of royalty and royalty free music now available is ideal for other you tube marketing videos still and or motion clip photography combined. I too enjoyed Ed's train video where motion clips and still photography was included. Creative, beautiful and masterful produced videos to everyone!!!!! It is all about exposure and marketing for potential sales!!!!!
