Good for you, Randy! Take it slow. Not having back surgery but having back issues occasionally that make it necessary to occasionally use a cane, I can relate a little.
Randy,
I'm so glad you posted your progress in the forum. The mere thought of back surgery is frightening, I am sure, but I am confident that you made the right decision and will be able to encourage others to do the same, as needed!
Thanks Marlene, the thought of having back surgery from my surgeon was frightening to me. I told him I need to sit back and think this over, studying the reviews and getting second opinion from my family physician.
Randy, here's to a speedy recovery!! I have had back and neck surgery. After I had back surgery, I had to wear a hard plastic brace for 3 months. The neurosurgeon told me that the best and only exercise he recommended was walking. He said to start out with short walks and gradually increase it. It's supposed to help the healing process. Just don't overdo it! ;)
So glad that you are doing well, Randy. I also had back surgery (LS 1) back in December of 1991. For me, the surgery was not a matter of choice It felt so great to be able to walk again. Luckily, a major success from a fantastic surgeon at UCSF. Be well.
Thank you all for the nice comments! To Judy I'll try not to overdo it, I been making short walks then increase a little each day, my back will tell me when its tired.
I wish you a speedy recovery! I've had back problems before but, thankfully, not bad enough for surgery. I know how frustrating that kind of pain and recovery can be.
