The new Yoga Mats are an amazing product, especially for Pinterest. Why is this? Health topics like Yoga are big on Pinterest and the mats are vertical and tall, which is great for Pinterest.
I just created a group board called "Yoga Mats by Fine Art America Artists" and you are invited to collaborate! The board already has more than 1100 followers.
Group Boards are a wonderful way to get your pins seen and to gain more traction on Pinterest. As I want this board to be really succesful there are some rules. Please read them before you join:
1. Only FAA Yoga Mats
2. Not more than 5 mats per day
3. You HAVE to repin mats from other artists from this group board to one or more of your own boards. If you don't do this I will remove you from the board.
Okay so let's flood Pinterest with our beautiful FAA Yoga Mats, this is what you have to do if you want to join the board and promote your Yoga Mats for free:
1. Follow my account http://www.pinterest.com/hauserfoto or - if you prefer - follow the Pinterest board 'Yoga Mats by Fine Art America Artists' https://www.pinterest.com/hauserfoto/yoga-mats-by-fine-art-america-artists/ (If you already follow my account you can skip this step)
2. Post your Pinterest-Link here in this thread
3. Get an invite :-)
4. Accept the invite
5. Follow the board rules. Important: *** Please repin some mats from other artists every time you pin yours to the board ***
Please note: You must follow the account or the board first, Pinterest may not let me invite you otherwise.
Happy Pinning! :-)

Well, I actually sold one of these out of the blue two days ago, so I'll give this a go, Matthias.

And do we have to pin from FAA/pixels or can we pin from our artist website (for me that would be https://nikolynmcdonaldphotography.pixels.com/ )?
Or can we first pin to our own board and then repin from there to yours?

Hey Nikolyn, that's great, and encouraging!

Wow, thanks a lot for joining the board Jill, SharaLee, Bex, Matthew, Sharon, Nikolyn and Mary Lee, great to have you! Looking forward to your wonderful Yoga Mats :-) Just sent out all the invites. Happy Pinning!
Nikolyn: This is the way I do it (and the way I suggest in my Pinterest Course): First I pin the Yoga Mat from my Artist Website (because I can use Google Analytics with the AW) to one of my own boards (I created one for the Yoga Mats). Then I wait a day or so and repin it from there to the Yoga Mat Group Board.
*** @all contributors, please note: you HAVE to REPIN pins from other artists from this board or you will be removed! ***
Sorry for shouting but I learned one thing since I'm on FAA: people don't read ;-) I participate in lots of group boards and I watch them closely. Only the group boards with good engagement (many repins) are successful. They do better in search etc. And I want this group board with your pins to get very successful so one last time:
*** @all contributors, please note: you HAVE to REPIN pins from other artists from this board or you will be removed! ***

Thanks, Matthias.
I created a Yoga Mat board earlier today and pinned some mats to it. So in a day or so, I will be able to repin something from that board to the Yoga Mat Group Board? This is my first group board, so I don't really know what to look for or where to look for it.
Hi Nikolyn, you're welcome :-)
You can repin them today if you want, I just do this because it enhances the chance for the pin to get seen -- and it can look a little bit spammy if we repin the same pin multiple times a day ;-)
The most important thing when pinning to a Group Board is to read the rules first.

Matthias,
I don't know HOW to repin to a group board. I did a search on it and found some good information on group board etiquette - plus mention that once a owner had accepted me (which you have), the group would "appear in my account". But . . . where is my account?
edit to delete h vs v - I found it!
Sorry for being such a dummy, but there it is :)
PS I also found stuff about mousing over thumb or opening a pin and seeing a "repin" button. I see no such button on my pins.

@Carol: Invite is out, happy pinning!
@ MVJ: Love your art, especially "Purple Rain" and "Abyss" would do great as Yoga Mats :-) Do you already have an Pinterest Account? If so, why not participate in the Group Board. If not: the first three lessons of my Pinterest Online course are free, they help you to set up a free Pinterest business account and edit your profile: https://pinterest-marketing-for-artists.thinkific.com/courses/sell-more-art-with-pinterest
@Nikolyn: yes, it can be confusing but this is just lingo :-) Pinterest changed the wording some time ago but the "old" pinners still say "pin" and "repin" instead of "save". Repinning means saving an existing Pin to another board. Just use the "save" button and choose the group board as destination. It should show up in your board list.

When I went to pin to the group board this morning, I discovered that I was getting NO message indicating that I'd already pinned something. I depend on this pop-up to keep me from duplicating a pin on one of my personal boards and was thinking I would have it to help me keep track of the group board pins, too. Does anyone know what's going on?
For now I made a good old-fashioned paper and pencil list that I plan to cross things off of as I go, but that is VERY cumbersome and will get old quite soon. Of course I would not have this problem if I only pinned to both boards at one time - i.e. to my own board and then from there immediately to the group board. But I don't have time to mess around with this every day. I thought I'd get ahead a bit on my own board while I had time, and then I could do a quick pin or two from there to the group board on days when I was really busy.

P.S. I noticed that some (or all?) of your pins are missing descriptions. Hey Matthias,
I always use the edit feature to add my descriptions. Did two this morning as usual . . . no problems. Went to do a third and, no matter what I did to change the content, I kept getting this message: "Sorry! We blocked this link because it's a redirector and may lead to inappropriate content." I mean even when I reduced the message to a single letter I got it.
Anyone else having (or ever have) this problem at Pinterest today?
Nikki
Hi Nikki, not up to now. The message indicates that they see a problem with the link (the place where you pinned the image from). Which is strange because I assume you pinned all three from FAA, Pixels or your AW? Did the third pin work without any description?
They do not want us to use URL shorteners like Bit.ly etc

I always pin from my AW - https://nikolynmcdonaldphotography.pixels.com/
I just went in and deleted the pin and tried it again. Same problem. I'm busy with other things now, but I'll try a completely different image later when I have time to do it properly and report back.
Hi Nikki, just did a little research and this is what I found: "There appears to be a widespread glitch of people's accounts being blocked for a 'redirector'. Email Pinterest if you see this on your account, immediately."
Unfortunately it seems that not only accounts are blocked but also complete sites. But as you only had one pin affected I would just wait and see. Or contact Pinterest support if the problem does not go away, it's always good to let them know when things are going wrong...

Hi Matthias,
Thanks for all your work as always. Congrats on the sale - I've never had a sale I thought or even suspected came from Pinterest, so it's very good to know.
You say, "E-mail Pinterest". Where and how do I do that?
Edit to add:
Found the way to e-mail pinterest . . . really really buried! but I found it. Here's the response in case it might help someone.
Hi Nikolyn,
This is an automated response from Pinterest.
We block links if we think they might be spammy or unsafe. To make sure a link doesn't get blocked:
- Check that the link goes directly to the website, not through a URL shortener (like bit.ly) or redirector
- Pin with our official Pin It button http://pin.it/ZWpggVx
In some cases, we do block a website completely. If you think we made a mistake, respond to this message with the following information:
1. A link to your website or blog
2. A link to a pin that's showing you the block error
The Pinterest support team
AND TODAY I TRIED THE SAME PIN, SAME WAY, AND HAD NO PROBLEM.

Hi Roy, invite is out, happy pinning! Please remember to repin one Yoga Mat from a fellow artist for every mat you save into the board, thank you :-)
Hi Nikki, I'm pretty sure this was just one of their glitches. Maybe we should just be happy they did not block the whole .pixels.com website... The majority of my AW sales is coming from Pinterest, this is why I love this place so much.

Sorry all, but I will close this thread.
Why?
Mainly because the repin rule does not really work on this board. Many of the contributors are following the repin rule but others don't.
I have years of experience with Pinterest and believe me, I know what I do. Well, most of the time LOL Group boards with lots of repins are way more successful than ghost towns where everyone pins dozens of her / his own work and then runs away.
Sorry again but I just don't have the time to regularly police all my group boards so I will not accept any new contributors for this board.
If the existing contributors don't play by the rules I will delete this board. Thank you for unterstanding.
