Paper Preferences?

Before I order an image on each different kind of paper FAA offers, I'd love to have any suggestions, feedback about what folks like best. Or even choices they really don't like! Most of my work is digital art prints not photographs, so in most cases, I probably wouldn't choose Glossy Photo Paper. I think in some instances, the metallic paper might be interesting, Thanks for any insights.

I just received the sample pack of papers earlier this week. And even with all the samples its difficult to recommend one type. I suggest ordering the sample pack of papers.

Gina, my usual go-to paper for digital art is the semi-matte - almost matte but with a slight sheen that makes colors pop. Truly, it looks great an nearly every image. I like Somerset Velvet for more traditional-looking works, though it also looks great on everything. All the papers (and metal and acrylic prints) look great, if used for the right image.

Ordering some small prints in different finishes, using the same image for each, is a good way to sample them.

I'm a BIG fan of metallic paper, though it doesn't look great with every image; you have to use it a few times to get a feel for when it works and when it doesn't. The problem with using metallic is there's no way to demonstrate it in this POD marketplace. Printed metallic paper is a VERY different look than any other paper available here. There's really no way to convey that to potential buyers.

Thanks guys. Didn't know about samples, will do that. And probably do some test prints too. Thought the metallic paper might be good with the right image. Glad to know it not necessarily kitschy.

Every poster I've bought choosing the various papers has been fabulous. I like the watercolor paper the most. My least favorite was a framed print because when I took the frame off, it was poster board! Now I buy all my posters or prints and specify the paper to be what I want and I have it professionally framed because I like to add more details to my prints.
