Have You Seen This New App?

I found a new to me app called Ripl. It's really simple to use and it creates great advertising for instagram and facebook. It's a great marketing tool. Here's the website http://www.ripl.com/

You can see the three ads I created on my instagram https://www.instagram.com/daricemachel/ they are the ones with the Ripl logo on them. You can put your own logo on the ads if you have a paid account. I'm using the free version right now.

Google Play tells me ripl is not compatible with my device unfortunately. I have just downloaded Quik https://quik.gopro.com/en/ but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Be interested if anyone has.

Thank you Darice, this is great!

btw I wrote to you other day in DM on IG, asking how do you create that little videos, just like a slideshow showing framed prints and products from faa in a single post.

I like those too, could you write it here how to make such thing?

Thank you!

Just playing with it now Ed

Edited to add - created my first little slideshow with music and my voice over. Effortless. This is the link: https://spark.adobe.com/video/33WEcInAvqLM2 Can't see how you could use it on Instagram though.

Good morning everyone.

Edward, Thank you for sharing Adobe Spark. I'll check it out when I get to my studio.

You're welcome Abbie.

Thanks Dorothy, too bad ripl doesn't work with your phone. I'll check out your link.

Dora, I just found your message on Instagram. Had to dig around for it.

How I make those slideshows is, first I pick the painting I want to use. Then play with the different Frames and mats FAA offers, creating different designs. I take screenshots of the ones I like. I then take screenshots of the products. Then I go to the photos or screenshots and edit them. I do all this with my iPhone not my computer.

Next I use an app called Flipaview. This app allows you to add the images and puts them into a slideshow. You can speed it up or slow it down. I share it on Instagram and then I save the slideshow to my photos to use on twitter and facebook.

The one thing I don't like about the app is it's made to use on Instagram so the slideshow crops all the photos in the square format. Which means not all my paintings work perfectly for the slideshow. When I crop them I try to get them as close to square as I can.

Thank you so much Darice for the detailed explanation! I will definitely try it out!

Cool, will have to give these things a try. Darice, did you realize that you don't have to crop to square format on IG anymore?

Darice Machel McGuire

Yes Peggy, I do know that. But "Flipaview" doesn't. It only does square formats. It's designed for instagram. It could be an older app.

I have Instagram, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add my photography to it. So just post on twitter, facebook, google, pinterest sites.

Your welcome James.

Cynthia, use your smart phone, not your computer to upload photos on instagram.

Cynthia,

From your phone:

Use the + sign at the bottom to add an image. It usually shows what is in my "gallery" of recent images.

(Forgive me if I am stating the obvious, are you logged in, do you have images?)

All my photography is on my laptop, not on my phone. I know how to post a picture that was taken with cell phone, but not my camera pics.

Lois Bryan

Cynthia, there may be an easier way, but I was in the same muddle as you.

I create a small image in my computer, usually 850mg on the longest side, add my watermark, then email it to myself. I then open it with my phone, save it to my phone, then add it to Instagram from there. Very complicated. I'm sure if you have an iPad or one of those things, it can be done with that as well. Well, I think so, lol, as I don't own one of those.

Anywho .. it's very tedious. Who knows if I've made a sale from it ... I doubt it as I seem to travel in the same lovely (yes, I mean it) lovely cloud-crowd of artists everywhere. If any purchasers happen to slip it, it's all news to me, lol.

OH ... and I make sure to add the http addy to my AW in the description. Add hashtag keywords, too.

You can use Grids to post from your laptop or computer to instagram. http://thegridsapp.com/

Just a quick feedback on Quik that I mentioned above, I played with it for a couple of minutes last night and it is really easy to use but that also squares the images. I will try again with it properly today. Edited to add: No it is much more flexible, you can have landscape, music, different effects. So easy to use.

When I create an image I create a smaller version (800px longest side) with my copyright that I then use for marketing. I upload it to Dropbox and then post to instagram from there.

@Darice: great find, thanks!
@Edward: Spark is great, love how easy it is to make short videos.
@ Cynthia: With Later (later.com) you can upload your pics from the PC to their site. With their free plan you can schedule 30 pics a month to Instagram on your phone.

You're welcome Matthias.

Thanks everyone for all the links. And for helping others with such great information.

Cynthia, To post images on instagram, I used to take a screen shot of my image on FAA with my phone, save it and then you can post it to instagram from your phone. Now I just use buffer to post to instagram.
Thanks for all the great links everyone, I will have to try spark.

Tried to set up a slide show in "Adobe Spark" but get a message saying that Internet Explorer won't work and suggests I switch to "Chrome" or Firefox".
I have no current problems using IE and worried about switching. Any warnings or suggestions?, I realize that video or even slideshow will be better than static content which is what I did here. https://spark.adobe.com/sp/design/page/a9eef43d-da47-4095-9f4e-a090acbbb43a
Thank you
