A 13-image composite photograph of a great egret (Ardea alba) making a 47-second flight along the shoreline of Richardson Bay near San Francisco. I will forever be grateful to God for sending this magnificent bird within close range!

The original file for this image is massive — 1.24 GB. It is the result of two years of birdwatching, waiting for the right moment… and prayer. The editing process alone took well over one month of tedious work. Definitely a labor of love!

A great egret (Ardea alba) prepares to land on a branch at a rookery nesting site in Santa Rosa, California.

This photo was taken in the rain, holding an umbrella with one hand and the camera in the other.

May this image be a majestic reminder for us all to be good stewards of God’s incredible creation through conservation and maintaining our yards free of chemical pesticides. Indeed, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.” (Psalm 24:1, NKJV)

While on a large exploration boat as chef in the Gulf of Mexico I was fortunate to see such sunsets as this one and so many others. In this photo it appears a woman in the upper right quadrant with arms extended offering clouds to cover the brilliant sun setting in the western sky over the Gulf of Mexico off the Coast of Louisiana.

This image recently discovered among volumes of images in my archives which were on a disk I just reviewed until today, the images was taken in the mid 2000.

Cheers,

With Mother's Day around the corner:: A cheerful floral image depicting California poppies beside Richardson Bay on a balmy April afternoon in the San Francisco Bay Area.

After several years of drought and a wet winter in 2016-2017, the Golden State is experiencing a glorious superbloom.

Unicorn Lake Hatchery is located at Unicorn Lake near Millington. This facility encompasses a 43-acre recreational fishing lake with boat ramp, access for spillway fishing, five fish culture ponds, picnic tables, one office building and one combination storage/culture tank building. Unicorn Hatchery cultures trout, largemouth bass, bluegill and yellow perch. These fish are used in corrective stocking programs and population restoration work.

Unicorn Lake encompasses a fish hatchery, recreational fishing lake and boat ramp. Unicorn Lake's 43 acres are populated with many fish species including yellow perch, largemouth bass and bluegill. Water from the lake supplies the hatchery. The dam is breached with a fish ladder to allow migratory spawning fish passage to the lake. The dam spillway also holds many sunfish and bass. There is plenty of shore access for fishing along the creek.

There are five culture ponds on site. These ponds are used to raise largemouth bass, bluegill and yellow perch for Maryland DNR Fisheries Service. Unicorn Lake also has the ability to culture juvenile fish to tagging size in the intensive culture facility. Largemouth bass juveniles are placed in these tanks and fed until they reach tagging size. Then they are transported to Manning Hatchery for marking.
