Selling On Amazon

I'm sure this has been discussed and I did do a search and didn't find what I wanted to know. I know people are afraid of having people steal their artwork, but they can do that on FAA too.

So I am thinking of trying selling my artwork out there in the decor area. From what I see, if I see fewer than 40 items a month, they only charge .99 per item sold. So does anyone do this? Sell there and just have the product shipped from FAA or Pixels.com? Are there any rules against it? Does anyone have any experience with it? With products or art? I only sell a few things a year here and I'd like to find a way to increase that as I will be retiring in less than two years and would like to build up to a supplemental income. So I am curious what everyone has to say.

they used to have an amazon store, but amazon kicked us out for some reason. to sell there i think you need an actual retail store, partly because if you print something and the customer doesn't like it, you foot the bill for the item. and its abused in amazon. you'd be better at selling on ebay, printing it yourself.

your also lost in amazon, because they only use titles as search words and if you don't have a good set of ratings, your lost in the back. many companies give away their products just to get a ton of reviews, stacking the deck.

when we were on amazon, i don't remember a rush of people finding me, but its hard to say if it helped at all. i do know i'm there under another store - and it does not help me sell anything.

i'm not sure what the 99 cent thing is, i do know they want like 15% of the price, which is why everything there is more expensive.

There are different ways of seeing on Amazon. I sell on the Handmade@Amazon site. At present there is no monthly charge, but for photography there is a 15% commission per sale. However to sell on Handmade you MUST print your own photos - no getting FAA to print and send. This is different to Easy.
Alternatively you may be also be able to sell on the non-handmade side of Amazon - i.e.home decor. As I understand the Handmade rules don't apply, so you probably can use FAA to print and ship your photos. Here I believe there is a $39 mostly charge plus 15% commission. I believe there is also a program for low volume sellers where it is 99c per item plus the 15% commission.

Lots of my work is selling on Amazon through another POD site and my published images. I haven't put it there myself.
Mike some of your work is selling on Amazon through another POD I know your work is on IK

I'm exploring the possibility of selling small photographs (via Amazon's Handmade) that I print and mat and ship - because I can offer them "signed"- which I cannot do with a POD source.

But - MEANWHILE - just this past weekend I discovered that another POD (where I have an old account) has several of my photographs on Amazon - with FREE SHIPPING. So, on Monday evening I posted about the free shipping on a Facebook group and that "I" was now available on Amazon - and featured a popular subject. AND - I sold two this week - a print and a gallery-wrap canvas. I know what I'll be busy doing for the next couple of days. :)

I would LOVE to see FAA get back on Amazon, with or without free shipping.
