How To Write Keywords??

Any tips and suggestions on how to write and search for keywords?

I have heard that its best not to repeat keywords.
Plurals are not important.
and there should be not space between commas eg- forest, river, mountain, impressionist,

is this true?

Use as many keywords that you can to describe your work without spamming. You have 500 characters and a space between commas will count as a character. If you get stuck you can use an online tool to help you. I use http://www.arcurs.com/keywording/ and http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php Don't forget to put in place names and locations. A good description also helps you get found on search engines.

@ Ankita you are most definitely in a unique genre of work.

If you have specific keywords of phrases in mind already I would search them to view the level of competition. By that I mean, competing with almost unlimited pages of the same keyword (is it overused)

Your works subject is so specific you may find only 2 pages of uploads in the search. Doesn't mean it's not a popular search as Google may imply, just means with regards to FAA uploads.

I'm not sure place names are what your needing. :)
I see many sales appropriate for "coffee mugs" and Yoga inspired Tee shirts in your future :)

Ankita,

Welcome! Here's the keyword finder I use that seems to work for me.

And also, make sure you include your own name as one of the keywords......

Good Luck,

Rich

Look at the image and write down the top words that come to mind. Then think deep and add some more. Most likely the top five words that come to mind are the most important.

A cat is a cat. Feline is going to be rarely searched. Etc.

enter the words as you see them. you can repeat some of the words as phrases.

cat, black, black cat, alley cat,etc cat, feline, kitty, and so on, all of those are ok. put your name down, add a location if its a city shot, mention colors, items that stick out, the season. add a plural if you think it needs it. it only wastes space but it may be that one ahead of someone else's work because you have that word that matches better.

I found that plurals ARE important....I add the singular and plurals of important keywords as the search is very specific. Am I wrong in this thinking, Abbie?

i think the search will see the plural as a more exact word. but its not as important as it once was, now that he's using that stemming thing.

It is also better to have a different name for each of your images even if it is just Om, Om 2, Om 3 etc. You could have Om Brown, Om Purple, Om Green etc.

Thomas S. Why do you say that place names are not what she needs. She has some paintings of places.

@ Roy, she has (2) out of 56 uploads. That's less than 4% of her work. Maybe for those 2? Not my decision however.

Unless it was an attempt at Realism, the precise accurate and detailed representation of the scene. For instance, can you identify with the scene titled Amazon River? I think her works may lean more towards expressionism, which would not compartmentalize her keywords into geographical locations. I think Marlene or other creatives could describe better than I when it comes to keywording paintings :)

Edit: Thank you, Abbie for V V V below V V V

Thomas S. Of course I meant to put a place name if the image was of a location. She may only have two now but might upload more in the future.

Joseph,

You're welcome! Works for me, especially for strange or weird images. The cars are pretty easy, but the other subjects can always use some help!
