Listen to your own music

I have always been a little envious of people who can make their own music by playing an instrument. I watch people play and think of how lucky they must feel. But really there isn't any luck with it at all, it is mostly hard work and practice. They take the time to separate from other distractions and focus on their art and are able to entertain and amuse themselves and hopefully others.
I think about these things because music is such a big part of my life and has been there through the ups and downs, it's always there.
I believe when one dedicates themselves to art, their particular art, it frees you from distractions and helps you focus on what is important to you. It's like making your own music. Your own pottery, your own painting, your own pie You get my point.
So many people believe they aren't creative because they aren't the next Monet I believe we are all creative and it just manifests itself differently in all of us.
I want to encourage you to slow down step away from the distraction and listen to your own music!

What you said is very true! Painting and music are my two joys. Although I could sing, I had to put in the time to learn to play the piano and to understand the craft of songwriting. The same with painting. I had to understand composition, color and light before I started to paint better. You just have to put in the time. By the way, I hope you don't mind if I put in a small plug for myself. You can see my paintings at fineartamerica.com, Artist-Steve Weiner
