Well, pull my leg again, too. The big auction house purchases are only for tax write-offs of one form or another. The wealthy with their CPA's advice. Not because the piece of art is so "great."

When one realizes the gross amounts paid for art at major auction houses are only to dead artists, and the buyer is simply securing a tax loophole for what? $75M and few if any "great art" is purchased from living artists, best simply to set the price of whatever at what you think you feel comfartable with, and hope people simply like it and buy. There is no formula.
