August Road Trip Day 11 Vegas to Oxnard

Well the day had to finally come, it is time to head for home and return to my wife and family.

The morning started off with transferring picture to my back-up hard drive and then getting my stuff together and prepare for the run home.

I sat down for a little bit with my friend Cliff's wife and we talked about my trip and the things that I was able to see and the places I went too. It was such a pleasant discussion and I enjoyed it very much.

Eventually it was time to get the show on the road one last time and begin the final trek home.

After saying my goodbyes and getting my gear back in the truck, I headed out to Route 95 south and headed back towards Interstate 15 and the eventual fun south.

The traffic on this Tuesday morning was at all that bad, all things considered. Everyone was still trying to go Mach 10 down the freeway so it was just best to move out of the way and let them push on.

I stopped for a few minutes at the White Castle restaurant in the town of Jean, Nevada and picked up some sliders to help give us a reminder of home (Chicago) for us. After having to deal with an ordering issue, I was back on the road and headed towards the state line and California.

The drive from Las Vegas to Oxnard is really uneventful, and there isn't really a whole lot to see out on this drive except open desert, so I did not stop and take any pictures on the way home (shocking I know).

On the south side of Apple Valley, the traffic did slow up a little bit as on the north bound side of the freeway, some knucklehead rolled his car over and it was laying upside down in a ditch, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) had blocked off the road so no one was moving at all.

Once I was past this traffic, it was a pretty smooth drive home, and traffic really didn't slow down at all, I think the only thing that I had found annoying on the drive home was the fact that people (and this happens all over and not just in California) like to just sit and ride in the far left lane and not take the time to pass someone and then move the heck out of the way.

After about 4 hours of driving, I was finally home and back with my family.

All total I drove 3,550 miles in about 11 days of traveling with about a total of 88 hours on the road, and drove through 5 different states and saw so much of this great country and in so little time.

I hope you enjoyed some of what I wrote over the past few days, I am working on the pictures from this trip, so please keep an eye out on my Facebook, Instagram, Viewbug and finally here on Fine Art America.

Thanks to all.

Semper Fi,
Frank
