Action Figures as Props in Photography

A lot of photographers use props in their photography. Hats, scarves, balloons, glasses, etc. are typical props used by photographers. But what about using toys? Little Superheroes or Action Figures that are doing something.

One of my favorite types of photography is Still Life. What is Still Life Photography? Still life photography is a genre of photography used for the depiction of inanimate subject matter, typically a small group of objects. It is the application of photography to the still life artistic style. One of the most popular forms of Still Life Photography is photographing fruit or food. But also photographing Wine Glasses or any non-moving object is considered Still Life.

I enjoy staging a scene and photographing it. Creating an altered reality by using Action Figures to appear like they are actually alive and doing something is a lot of fun. In my above photo, I have made Thor look like he is chopping up a large ice cube with his hammer. I have also photographed Batman dropping an olive into a martini; and Spiderman and Iron Man making a Manhattan cocktail. Okay, I like using my Action Figures to make adult beverages LOL.

Well I hope you enjoyed my blog post about Still Life Photography. Feel free to browse my gallery or contact me.
