I believe this of course Diana, but I'm just curious how you know it was a result of entering contests and not just coincidental, Were you in communication with the buyer?

Hi Diana. Yes, I have sold right after entering contests also. I didn't even get any votes in either, lol

I enter contests all the time, but never made a sale from one that I know of. I think it does help with exposure, though. Congratulations!

Congratulations!

I've sold after entering contests. I knew it was from there because it is usually images that have not sold or haven't sold for a very long time and suddenly sell shortly after entering them into a contest.

I've seen many items on the Recently Sold page that I have just seen in some of the contests!

Have never traced a sale to a contest I entered. Of course, I only had two sales all last year, so that was easy!

I feel that sales from contests happen when you have a contest host that cares enough to promote the entries whether as a like or fave here on FAA or shouts it out on a multi media site. My group members tell me all the time that they've sold after winning in contests. I know that some of my entries have sold whether I won or not.

I want to believe....

Ah, good news, for a change. I've always said that entering contests can translate to sale$, which is the main reason why I keep creating & hosting them. Takes a little effort, but when members report back with a success, I feel it's worth my time.

Like CJ says, a sale can happen whether or not you win or place on the contest leaderboard. Visitors & potential buyers do scroll through the list of contests in varied stages of completion to find subjects that interest them...and buy.

It also helps if both the host & participating members plug the contest, as in sharing the link with others, which adds up to lots more views & possible purchases.

Views add up and I find that they equate to a higher chance of sales! The Bots work with the contests and the Bots spread the work around. I have seen my images move up in the searches because of the views I receive.

The reason why I know what I know is that in my group THE GALLERY WALL I started a discussion topic that asked members to add their artwork that had been featured on the groups homepage, won or placed in any contest (TGW group contest or any other), and whether it had recently sold. Gotta say that the discussion had entries every day!

I go out of my way to add comments to Twitter and FB that say something like "Gorgeous work of art by ______________________! They won blah blah place in ________________________contest! Check out their winning piece and while you're at it their entire portfolio, I promise, you'll be happy you did!"

The more that contest hosts promote, or group admin's help their member's get their artwork "out there" and seen the more invaluable contests and groups become to this site! And, I'll reiterate again...the contest host really needs to do the heavy work of promoting and that's OFF FAA!

Hi
I entered a contest and will continue to do so but mainly to boost my views as a newbie.

In my experience you never know when and where you sell a piece. But for sure you wont sell if no one is looking.

Best wishes from sweden
